In a recent discovery session, a potential client was explaining to me about how she had just landed her first ever paying client. And then she got another one, and now she has other opportunities showing up to promote her business. Now this is an extremely lovely big hearted woman who provides a much needed transformational service and has been working with clients, but without getting paid for it for a very long time. She has been working hard to gain visibility in her community and on line – connecting with as many people as she possibly could, and now she feels like the gates have opened at last and clients do exist who are willing to pay for her services. She was speaking to me because she understands that she needs to set up systems that ensure her flow of clients does not dry up. She knows she must invest some of that money she has earned back into her business to create a pipeline of her ideal clients. Great move on her part. It’s just like having a flow of clients on tap. And that means having the money on tap too! You see, most big hearted coaches, practitioners and healers are depending on “build it and they will come” or “the Universe/God will take care of me if I am a good person and just keep doing my good work.” You may recognize yourself in this “system” – I know I used to think that too! Well…yes. Doing great work and delivering results for people is extremely important. But if you want the clients – PAYING clients – to show up then it takes more than building a website and printing out business cards and brochures to make that happen. The Universe/God does provide the resources for us all, but there are effective ways of channeling and using the resources. Imagine what would happen if we didn’t catch and channel the absolutely vital resource of water. What if we just waited for it to fall whenever with no system to capture and channel it? We would be very thirsty and very hungry and dirty people! Where is the common sense in that? Where is the wisdom in that? There is none. Create a system to channel and collect It makes far more sense to create a system whereby we channel and collect the resource we need ready for when we need it. And it is no different with your clients and money in business. Setting up a system or systems to attract your ideal clients and bring them into your world via your marketing bridge is just pure common sense. And yet most big hearted healers, practitioners and coaches are not doing it. They are randomly meeting and bumping into ideal clients and having beautiful, quite often, transformational conversations with them, and….Nothing, nada, zilch! They have no system to follow, no next step on the road to getting a new paying client and even more importantly, they have lost the opportunity to serve them in the deeper way they know how! Clients slipping through our fingers It’s such a shame, and such a waste! Just as it would be if we watched all the rain pour away and didn’t use this amazing resource we have at our fingertips to nourish ourselves and our planet when and where it needs it. This is what happens when we drop the ball and don’t know what to do next, no system in place. We are allowing the resources that the Universe/God has provided us with to slip through our fingers. Our ideal clients are everywhere, but if we don’t know how to recognize them and have a system to walk them through so that they can come and work with us, we are letting them down and letting ourselves down. Don’t do that. Create systems. Here are 3 tips to get you started: 1. Opt-in box. When someone lands on your website or blog, make sure you have an opt-in box so that you can capture their email address. You have about 7 seconds before they are going to click off so use those seconds wisely. Offer a “must have” free gift in exchange for their email address. 2. Connect and serve. Once you have their email address, you must start connecting and engaging with them regularly or they will forget about you and think you are spamming them later down the line. You must serve them and show you know your stuff. This can take the form of a regular newsletter, blog post, etc. Anything that provides regular connection and serves. 3. Ask. Asking is a key factor in getting clients! You must regularly offer your services. This can be in the body of the newsletter or in standalone emails. Only promote 20% of the time, 80% is to serve your community and build the know, like and trust factor. If you follow these simple steps, you will get clients as long as you are sending people to your opt-in box on your website or blog.
