Many online jewelry stores make big bucks, and a lot of people want to start an online store to sell jewelry. But an online jewelry store requires investment. Talking of the budget, many people will think the less, the better. I used my own web store creating experience to give you some tips on how to create a money making jewelry online store in a frugal way.
First, you need to create a website. In USA, building an online store might cost you a big fortune, ranging from $4000 to $8000. But in China, I only spent about $500 on a very pretty website that works well. If you speak Chinese, it will be a piece of cake to find a good Chinese web building company which can build an attractive website for you with less money. So learning Chinese seems a necessity if you want to save money. If you don’t speak Chinese, making some Chinese friends will also be a good help, and ask them to help you find one.
Second, you need a domain and web hosting. You might go to godaddy.com for these two purchases, and don’t forget to use their promotion codes, which can save you heaps of money. Personally, I think hostgator.com can offer better web hosting service than godaddy.com. If you choose hostgator’s web hosting, the speed of opening the website will be faster, and it will be easier for your SEO company to improve your website’s google ranking. But buying domains at godaddy.com can save you more money than at hostgator.
Third, your website needs traffic, that is, how can you make people know and visit your website? There are two options. If you have money to burn, you can choose Google Adwords service, which is an effective way to promote your business. Or you can find a good SEO company which can help to make your website become really good so that it can rank well on google. Most of Chinese SEO companies cheat, because their lack experience and their SEO skills are immature. Western SEO companies are better, for they have long history of doing SEO, and some of them have become very professional. Therefore, I discourage you from choosing Chinese SEO companies just for the sake of saving money.
Fourth, you need inventory. I am in China, Yiwu, which is renowned for its very verycheap silver jewelry , gemstones jewelry and other small commodities, I buy them, and take clear photos for them with my own camera. If it is not convenient for you to come to Yiwu, China, it doesn’t matter, for in China, there are numerous jewelry websites which can provide attractive pictures and send the quality items for you after you get the order. For example, at www.likyjewels.com, only $499.99, you can become their agent and get the half price to resell their jewelry or get the pieces at the wholesale price. .
At last, I hope you can create a lucrative online jewelry store.
