Astonishing things can happen for you when you get your dreams in concrete form. The easiest way to do this is to create a “Vision Board.”
A Vision Board is a collection of pictures and words that symbolize your hopes and dreams. It can be for one specific topic or it can be for a period of time. The power of a vision board is phenomenal for it brings ideas into physical reality and makes them concrete. You will be astonished at how many things will come true- all you have to do is make it and look at it
What makes a Vision Board work?
Simply by looking at he pictures, words and symbols you place on your board you are activating the “reticular Formation” in your brain. This is the part of your brain responsible for bring things to your awareness that are important to you.
ie) Say your friend gets a red sports car and shows it to you…you will start seeing red sports cars everywhere. They were there before but your “reticular formation” knew they were not of interest to you.
The best book on this topic is “Visioning, Ten Steps to Designing the Life of your Dreams” by Lucia Capacchione PH.D (I was personally trained by Dr Capacchione in her extensive training program)
Supply list:
Poster board or foam core board (foam core makes a nice sturdier vision board- about 12.00 for a package of 3 at your office supply store)
Scissors
Glue (liquid or stick)
Old magazines to get pictures out of (a variety gives better choices)
Soft Music (without words, language activates the left brain & for this creation we need our Right brains)
Your beautiful imagination for your heats desires.
The Process:
A. Gather your supplies and find a large, quite space to spread out. It can be a tabletop or the floor.
What you are looking for here is space to be alone (unless someone else is vision boarding with you). It is important to create the vision board with no talking or interruptions. You want to be in a state of “flow”.
Talking activates the left side of the brain where the language centers are located. For creating of any kind, we want the Right side to be activated. Creativity and spirituality come only through the Right side.
B. Get Focused: Before you cut a single picture out of the magazines, get focused on what you want. Place your hands on the poster board in front of you.
The easiest way to begin creating is to be still and focus on your physical heart center, Ask yourself, “What is most important to my heart now”.
Just relax and you will be surprised at what comes up. (It is helpful to touch your favorite EFT point or to hold the TAT position)
C. Create a “focus phrase”.
Going by the thoughts, feelings, or images that came up for you, craft a “focus phrase” that sums up what you desire.
Some examples could be:
More love in my relationships
More ease in my financial life
More Personal peace
Direction for Career change
How to attract More clients
The important thing here is to follow what came up for you in the meditation on your heart center. Your heart’s going to rule anyway… Now WRITE your “focus phrase” in the center of your poster board. This is now your mantra to keep you focused.
D. Search for Images and words
Begin to go through your magazine searching for images and words that symbolize your focus phrase. Resist getting caught up in reading articles etc. let nothing deter you from creating this vision board of your dreams.***Important*** You will not be doing any cutting with scissors yet.
When you see an image and words of interest, rip the whole page out and put it in a pile.
Because you are going to have way more images than you have space for, there is another sorting process later. For now…rip away.
E. Begin sorting process:
After you have assembled quite a nice pile of images and words, start the final sorting process. (Remember to have only soft music with no words playing and no talking)
Pick up each item and ask your heart “Does this fit in with my focus phrase?”
This will narrow it down quite a bit.
F. Choose the image that best represents your Focus Phrase.
Trim this up and place it right in the center of your poster board. This is representing your focus phrase and is the cornerstone of you vision board.
G. Begin to trim the other pictures and words.
It is better to get them all trimmed BEFORE you start placing them, on the board. You can clip different words and make them say what YOU want them to say.
(Make sure to trim off anything you don’t want-IE: if there is a perfect picture but it has a cat in it and you don’t want a cat, trim the cat off)
H. Play with the placement Before gluing down.
You will want to place the images and words in ways that are pleasing to you. Don’t rush this part- it is very enjoyable. Pretend that you are “ordering” your future and have fun with the placement.
The images and words can overlap and be arranged in any position that pleases you. (I never make a neat collage; I overlap and get as much of my dreams on the board as possible.)
I. Begin gluing down:
Once you are pleased with the look, begin gluing down.
You are still in a state of meditation, still contemplating your focus phrase.
J. Contemplate your creation:
Just sit and contemplate your vision board. Take in all the beautiful symbols of your desires. You can take this a step further by jou
aling with different images on the board. I suggest you use non-dominant handwriting to dig really deep into your creative brain.
ie) Write a question with your dominant hand and answer it with your non-dominant hand. It doesn’t matter if you are right or left handed just answer with the “other” hand.
(See my book, “30 Angel Steps to Prosperity” for more detail, Available on my site for no charge)
K. Put your vision board where you can see it everyday.
The power really is in looking and activating the reticular formation. I take pictures of my vision boards and place the pictures in other places as well. I will put one in my car, one in my bathroom mirror, one in the kitchen and place the original large one on my altar.
L. Just enjoy your vision board, let it be easy and watch out for miracles.
