A tattoo, in addition to an indelible memory on your skin, is a somewhat peculiar type of wound that, like any other, requires minimal care in the days after it is performed to ensure that the area heals correctly, that no problem arises and that the design will be perfect for a long time. If you are not rigorous and things end badly, take note because we will tell you how to cure an infected tattoo.
PREVENT, BETTER THAN CURE
The best way to prevent your tattoo from getting infected is to take proper care of it. In the study they will give you all the advice you need for this. If they use healing dressings, you will leave the session with one since you will change at 24-48 and 72 hours (when you remove the third you will not need more). If they still do not know the gifts of the dressings or your tattoo is large, they will cover the area with a transparent film to contribute to the coagulation of the area. Either with film or with dressing, tattoos should be washed the same: with warm water, neutral soap and applying small circular movements very softly. When you're done, pat it dry without dragging it with a paper, apply a generous layer of tattoo aftercare cream, and cover it with a dressing or plastic wrap. If you use the second method, you should wash it at least twice a day and continue to cover it until the area is well healed.
SOMETHING IS WRONG
As we told you at the beginning, applying these tips you should not have any problem with your tattoo. Redness, fever, pain, swelling, odor, or discharge is some of the symptoms that indicate that you tattoo may be infected. In this post we give you more details to recognize an infected tattoo. If you notice them in yours, go to your doctor as soon as possible.
HOW TO CURE AN INFECTED TATTOO
When you suspect that your tattoo Ointments has not healed properly, go to your doctor to check if the area is indeed infected. Medical treatment is usually based on the prescription of an oral antibiotic and an antibiotic ointment to help eliminate bacteria in the area. If you have a fever or severe pain, you can be prescribed antipyretics and analgesics. It is very important that you take the medication as they tell you, at the indicated times and on the prescribed days. Do not finish the treatment on your own because you feel better because the infection could return and it would cost more to fight it. In addition to the purely pharmacological treatment, your doctor will insist on what they already told you in the study:Be rigorous cleaning your tattoo! Follow the guidelines that we have given you above, being especially careful with the issue of drying since the area will be very sensitive and you could hurt yourself. Consult with your specialist about the convenience of leaving the tattoo uncovered so that the wound breathes and heals better. This will be possible as long as your tattoo is not in an area that is covered by clothing, in which case other measures will have to be taken. And if you notice intense pain and the area is inflamed, remember that ice is a magnificent anti-inflammatory and natural painkiller that will help you progressively reduce discomfort and swelling. It is important that you do not leave it for more than 5-10 minutes every time you put it on (you can do it several times a day) and wrap it in a clean cloth so that it is not in direct contact with the skin as you could suffer burns from contact with it. The improvement if you are prescribed antibiotics will be noticeable in just 3-4 days and if you complete the entire process well in between 7 and 10 days, your tattoo will have healed and the infection will be history. In the event of any worsening of symptoms or if those 3-4 days pass and you do not notice any improvement, consult your doctor again.
