I was having breakfast recently with a fabulous client of mine (and now friend) who was telling me of the super-smart idea she had.

Laurel said...

"Kim - you're going to think I'm brilliant!"

She published a book several years ago and as self-publishing can sometimes be - she had about 1,000 extra copies still hanging out as tenants in her garage. (and they weren't paying rent!)

She decided to donate them to one of her favorite charities as a fund-raiser, which was taking place at several locations of a major coffee-chain.

Wellllll - the response was unbelievable!

She not only THRILLED the organizers of the charity, she received TONS of local news coverage (worth thousands!) as well as major interest from the coffee chain (who also loved her book!) Of course a potential client saw her on television and BINGO - she also attracted a new client.

We clinked our coffee cups as a toast to her brilliance and I thought...

"That's the power of LEVERAGE!"

Laurel Can Teach You A Lesson Or Two

If you're wondering how to make some money and make it FAST you need to tap into the power of leverage.

And it is right under YOUR NOSE.

Yep.

Diva Ideas On How To Make Some Cash:
• Re-vamp, re-name, re-fresh, re-work, revise, re-invent, or re-purpose an existing product or service you've ignored for awhile.
• Launch this "new idea" to your database of clients and potential clients.
• Send out a postcard campaign on it with a special, time-sensitive offe
• Or offer a special bonus, or a contest if they purchase by a certain date

Find New Markets With What You Already Have

So often I see women trying to sell stuff to people who have no need, desire or want for it.

Instead - look outside of your bubble and brainstorm with some friends on NEW areas you could promote to - who WOULD WANT what you have to offer!

My Diva Dare?

Take a look at what is hanging out in your "garage" and see what you can come up with to promote in the next 60 days. (and then tell me what you did!)

Back in the late 1980’s, the Honda Motor Company ran a memorable series of commercials, the basic premise of which was that the company’s cars were so amazing, they sold themselves. This commercial’s “hook” was that it featured a salesman who was bored out of his mind and had nothing to do because the cars were so in demand they were practically walking off the lot. The brand’s slogan at the time was “Honda, the car that sells itself.” Ha!

Excerpt from the book "Chase the Championship - Kicking Ass, Taking Names and Becoming a Dealmaker!" Stay far away from the boss’s underlings when you are in search of a decision. The heads of Marketing, IT, Human Resources, or whoever else is part of the “decision-making chain” for the product or service that you are selling should never be the people that you go after for a commitment.
