Throughout life there is always times when you will want to improve, strive for a bit more, and concentrating on your own personal development will help you attain those goals. This is especially valuable after a divorce. It is critical to take time to grieve your divorce, but then there comes a time when you know it is time to look inside yourself and decide what the next chapter in your life will be. This is sometimes challenging, but the advice in this article will provide excellent insight to start you down your new path.
What goals have you always had, but maybe put on the back burner after you were married? When you are young, the world is open to all possibilities, but as you become an adult, and real life, marriage, family and other adult responsibilities take over, sometimes our initial dreams and goals are stiffled or are even completely removed as a possibility. Isn't it time to re-examine what goals you may have set-aside, but still want to reach?
What goals have you added to your list over your lifetime? As you get older, your dreams and goals will definately change. Although the goal of becoming an astronaut is no longer feasible at fifty, the goal of going back to college an studying the stars is not out of the question.
Where do you see yourself in one year, five years or even ten years? Do not let your divorce define your future. You can still dream, have goals, both big and small, and achieve them. The key is to stop dwelling on what could have been and start concentrating on what could be.
Do you think you are on the right track to meet the goals you have? It is critical to determine if you are doing things today in your life that will help you reach your goals. If you are not, what can you change? Even small changes will move you further down the path to reaching your goals.
Are you really satisfied with where you are in your life? If not, you are the only one who can make the changes necessary to get where you want to be.
Look at the skills you have now, and then look at the skills you need to reach your goals. Make today the day you decide to start the actions needed to improve your life and yourself.
Your divorce is not the end of your goals, it is the chance to re-look and redefine what the true goals you and you alone want to reach. Taking the time to work on yourself and your personal development will help you to reach your goals head on. Divorce does not define who and what you are, it is just one part of your life story, and is the perfect opportunity to give yourself permission to work on you!
