To review their top ten list you can visit their site, but for my money, you will probably want to stay with my list as it’s substantially shorter. And, after trying and failing for so long over the years I think I can say “I’ve done my homework”. From the huge number of competing products offering or promising a kind of ONE CLICK solution, I have boiled my list down to a handful of well know products that in the main, check most of the boxes. From the get-go you should know I have no affiliation with any of these products, my conclusion is based purely on research and experience. The Contenders. I will be looking and comparing my short list made up of WIX, Weebly, Squarespace and WordPress as my top 4 ‘Go To’ products for building FREEwebsites. One:WIX. What is WIX? Wix is a FREE, user-friendly, website building platform designed to help none-technical users to create amazing, professional looking websites, that can be edited and updated with ease! No technical skills are needed and sites are 100% search engine friendly, with a wide-ranging selection of website templates meaning users can build a professional looking website from scratch. Premium packages are available, giving users access to features like removing Wix Ads, giving additional storage and bandwidth Two Weebly. What is Weebly? Weebly is platform giving users the ability to create unique websites, blogs or online stores. The platform gives all users the freedom to build high-quality websites that work across all devices. The advanced software makes it easy for anybody to build a website, with the ability to utilize over 100 design templates and multimedia features like as photos, maps, videos, and audio. This platform allows users to make changes to the design using the drag and drop method of adding widgets to different areas on the Web page. Content can be managed via the Weebly website, or via mobile apps created for the iPhone. The Weebly pricing includes the free option and Premium plans, as well as their Enterprise offering. Three: Squarespacer What is Squarespace? Simply put, Squarespace is content management system (CMS) that’s integrated with a website builder, blogging platform and hosting service. Having said this, Weebly does give the user a little more flexibility in selecting and changing templates and edit CSS/HTML. Over-all, the Wix offering would be my choice in this case. But we’re not finished yet. What happens when we put WIX up against Squarespace? Out of the three, we can see that the Squarespace was taking the lead until it comes to the pricing, and then BANG! It’s just a 14-day trial until you start paying. Okay so it’s not breaking the bank starting at $5 per month, but as I said from the get-go, I want FREE to mea FREE. So what now? Well, we have one more platform to look at and I am going to put it up against the winner of the last test against my criteria, so now it’s WIX vs WordPress. Okay, so it’s starting to look like a no-brainer now. The WordPress is an open source project meaning that anyone with the knowledge can start developing the backend and create their own functions. That’s not to say you would want to because we are not interested in programming, we are interested in building a website quickly and easily. We can leave all the development to the programmers and they can improve the platform in the background. The point is, WordPress is the most popular FREE website building platform out there with over 60 million sites built on it already. You have the choice of thousands of free themes and many paid for themes, and you can even build your own if you are that way inclined, plus thousands of plugins or add-ons which carry out specific functions, so no need to go without. If you want a contact form on your site you download a contact form add-on, and it’s just that simple. How Do Build A Free Website Online? If all this seem fantastic and too good to be real, thanks okay. It's difficult to understand how you can have these services for free, but remember so of these services come with ads in the free versions.
