In this article, I will share with you some surprising findings on the eating habits of people who are obese. According to a new research, overweight people actually eat less frequently than those people in the acceptable weight range! However, they do manage to take in more calories throughout the day than those who are not overweight. On top of being less active, these people quickly gain weight. It so seems that people who manage to lose weight actually eat more often!
A study researched on the eating habits of people who are classified as being overweight while another separate study only included men and women who fall within the acceptable weight range for their height. It was found that the people of ordinary weight ate approximately three meals and two snacks each day. The overweight group was found to take only three meals a day. Although the overweight group ate fewer meals, they took in more total calories than the other group!
Researchers have thus come to a possible conclusion that taking regular healthy snacks may actually help prevent excessive weight gain by keeping their hunger at bay. When you eat on a more frequent basis, you do not end up as hungry when you reach your actual meal time. This allows you to better control your appetite during your actual meals.
This is why well planned and healthy snacks can actually be of great help to you when it comes to losing weight, as they can help you stave off hunger pangs and resist binge eating. The most important part about snacking will be to choose them wisely, and only take healthy choices such as fresh fruits, nuts, vegetables and low fat dairy. Avoid taking food which do not contain any nutrient content while containing lots of calories.
It was also noticed that the people in the group of acceptable weight were much more active and took part in more physical activities than the group of overweight people.
The most important message to you if you want to lose weight is to start being more active and taking more regular but healthy meals.
When your body weight increases, your risk of developing life endangering diseases such as heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure, and many other diseases increases. This is also exactly the reason why you should keep start changing your eating habits if you have not already done so!
