There are many ways and techniques to stop anxiety. Everybody is unique so some techniques will be effective for some people while for others find it not so helpful. Most of the time it is our thoughts that made us feel anxious and worry so stopping anxiety is a state of mind. The root cause of anxiety are negative thoughts that are running in our minds, making us worried about events of the past, or the future. If you stay in the present moment, you will realize there is really not much to worry about. Therefore the first step is to deal and get in control over our negative thoughts.
Learning to control your breathing is another good way to stop anxiety. The proper method of breathing is by taking deep slow breaths using your diaphragm, with your stomach rising on the inhale and falls on the exhale. Shallow breathing is usually using your chest, which means you are not drawing enough air and oxygen to your lungs, and that can cause anxiety.
You should also be aware that a well-balanced healthy diet would be a huge boost in your efforts to stop anxiety. Alcohol, drugs, and nicotine are not only harmful to your body but they also make your anxiety symptoms worse.
Another great way to stop anxiety is exercise. Work out at the gym, at home, or simply take a walk outside whenever you feel anxious. By exercising, you’re helping your body to release stress and tension. With regular exercise, you will find that your anxiety symptoms will be reduced rapidly and you will feel much calmer and relaxed. And if you can add yoga or meditation to practice daily, they can do wonders!
Drink plenty of water and keep your body hydrated. This will help in the functioning of your body. Medical professionals recommended drinking 8 glasses of water daily.
Sometimes, all it takes to stop anxiety is awareness. A good knowledge about anxiety helps you to gain better understanding on your anxiety symptoms and what causes it. This will definitely help you to manage your anxiety. Do research, read books and magazines on the topic, and even be an expert in it. You will be glad you did.
And lastly, sleep well. Don’t just sleep at night but have a good quality night sleep. If you’re having trouble falling asleep, forcing yourself to sleep or taking pills is not the way. Instead try doing some light exercises, read a book, or listen to relaxing music. Another effective way is to listen to a self-hypnosis recording.
