We all know that what we focus on we attract more of… and yet we still go around moaning about the stack fo bills we have to pay, the lack of money in our bank accounts ( especially at this time of year!), the lack of available, gorgeous, men or women around. So we shouldn’t be surprised when this is exactly what shows up in our lives…. more lack!

It seems to be part of the human condition., we seem destined to moan about our lot in life. If you are from the UK or NZ ( born in one now live in the other, so have some idea of what I speak) you will moan about the weather. If it is sunny we moan about the heat. If it is rainy we moan about that too. If we have a job we moan about (a) our boss (b) our wages (c) our working conditions. If we are unemployed we moan about (a) the lack of jobs (b) the fact that we have no money and (c) how hard it is to find work.

Then there is our physicality. If we are tall we want to be short, we want curly hair if we have straight or vice versa. We get implants because our breasts are too small or breast reductions if they are too big. Liposuction is for all those annoying bits you cant shrink any other way, bellies, thighs. Then there is butt lifts and facelifts for all thso other pesky saggy bits.

But have any of us really stopped to think of all that we have to be grateful for? I mean really stopped to think?
Some people would be grateful just to have breasts… after mastectomies from breast cancer. some people would be grateful for hair… after chemotherapy or alopecia. Some would be grateful to stand whether tall or short.. after becoming paraplegic or tetraplegic or even becoming bed bound.

We have all been told that we need to be grateful for what we have , to focus on the positive. And we do. For a while. Then we slip back into our moaning. Into taking life for granted. All those precious moments that add up to our life.

So my challenge to you is to wake up! Wake up and really begin to appreciate all the big and small moments in your life. Appreciate the fact that you are alive and can breathe in the air. The fact that you can hear the sounds of your day, whether that be the bustling sounds of city life or the birdsong of nature at your doorstep. The fact that you have the choice to walk, bike, bus or drive to work. The roof over your head. Be grateful that all the significant people in your life are alive and well and within calling distance. And if they aren’t , that they were once very much aprat of your life and you are lucky enough to remember them.

I challenge you to make gratitude a part of your daily lifethrough thought, word and deed. Mentally thank everything for showing up in your life. Verbally thank everything and everyone for their part in the play you call your life. Show your gratitude to everything and everyone.

A great exercise to do is to write “I love it when…..” and add as many things that you can think of. I love it when I hear the birds sing outside my window. I love it when the sun shines. I love it when my friends come to visit. I love it when my sweetheart comes home from work. I love it when I have a great nights sleep. I love it when I find the perfect parking space. I love it when….

Let this become a daily part of your life and I guarantee your life will transform.

Live you best life!
