It isn’t a pretty topic- but many of us have muttered in frustratio “I need to lose weight and fast”- but the body’s systems may seem to be in slow motion. From bloating and gas to chronic constipation and even colon disease, our body needs to flush out toxins efficiently in order to lose weight effectively. Constipation is an aftereffect of poor nutrition and even dehydration. If you find yourself suffering from poor toxin elimination you may want to consider changing a few things about your diet in order to see your weight loss pick up again. The Diet Program for Flushing Fat: Constipation Crisis To be truly constipated would mean that you are having less than one bowel movement a day. Harboring all of that waste inside your body can make you fatigued, extremely uncomfortable, and worst of all can negatively affect your weight loss- no matter at what point in the process you are. Allowing toxins to build up inside your colon makes it impossible for your body to absorb the healthy nutrients you are eating, and in a word are literally “blocking” your fat loss efforts from coming to fruition. The first step in order to get your body back in working condition is to get hydrated. If you are not getting half of your body weight in water every day, you may not be properly excreting all of the toxins your body needs to eliminate. So, for example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you need to drink 80 ounces of water per day, minimum. Some people may not associate proper hydration with constipation, but the two go hand in hand- so if you have noticed some slowing in your system- pick up the water glass and start chugging! Dietary Details: The Best Diet Program Super Foods for a Colon Detox Too many people think in extremes when it comes to weight loss. For those who may have some issues with going to the bathroom on a regular basis, they quickly opt for the surgical route and sign up for procedures such as a colon cleanse. And while a colon cleanse can be extremely helpful for those who are dealing with colon disease or serious digestive difficulties, a simple change in your diet can aid in your colon’s ability to naturally eliminate waste. Introduce colon-cleaners such as ground flax seed and raw fruits and veggies to your diet. The combination of healthy fat and high fiber foods will work magic together inside your bowels, loosening waste and getting your body back into a regular routine. A trick of the trade is to always try to include at least one raw component to your meal. Whether that means a raw serving of broccoli or tomatoes to go alongside your dinner or a serving of fresh fruit with your morning omelet, it is essential for your body to get these raw, natural foods to work to the best of its ability. If you want a quick cleanse in order to jumpstart your system consider whipping up a “colon cocktail”, which consists of 1 TBSP lemon juice in one glass of water with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Talk about a stimulating charge to your system. This little concoction will summon your bowels to buck up and clean your system out quickly and naturally. Remember, constipation is just your body’s way of telling you that it is deficient in something. Whether that is water or certain nutrients such as fiber, you must listen to your body’s signals and make diet changes accordingly. You cannot lose weight when regularly constipated, so make sure you are keeping your body running the way it should.
