If The Big Boys Can't Manage Their Money, How Are We Supposed To Know How?
Written by Barbara Zagata
If Freddie, Fannie, Merrill, Indy and the Lehman Brothers haven't yet learned the ropes, you have to wonder what in the world it's going to take to sustain financial success?
When millions in assets isn't enough, how is little ol'me going to preserve my wealth? Is there even such a thing as financial security? How much does it take? And who's going to do it for me, now? Who can I trust? Maybe I need to learn to do it for myself? But if they don't know what they're doing, and they're the experts, what possible chance do I have?
Sound familiar? Feel familiar? Yes? Then you've probably been losing sleep at night. It's enough to make even the most conservative investor consider some new options---even options so outside of the box you may wonder what they have to do with building real wealth, but what the heck; what have you got to lose at this point.
As we leave the Information Age and move into the Conceptual Age nothing is set in stone anymore. How does anyone cope with so much change in so little time?
There's an inspiring story about Buckminster Fuller and how at the lowest point of his life, bankrupt and jobless, he was just about to "throw in the towel" when he got a thought that altered his perspective and inspired him to embark upon his 56 year experiment in which he accomplished what had never before been imagined!
What if more of us were to try a grand experiment in wealth building that doesn't involve a step-by-step wealth building process? What if we still held the intention of building our wealth but re-framed it as always having enough, vs. focusing on some net worth amount? What if we said forget about the numbers and all the calculations and simply focused on "abundance." Because how do you ever really know how much you will need, someday? No matter what anyone calculates now, do you really feel secure that, some little formula, even if you can achieve it, is going to be your ticket to prosperity? And by the time you get there, will you still have what it takes to enjoy your financial freedom? And what will the global economy being doing then?!
When you are able to relax a little, breathe deeply and observe what's going on, you realize that all your doubts and all of your anxiety about money come from what happened before. Before now.
Every book on building wealth teaches you what worked before. Yet, every investment program warns you that future success cannot be based upon past performance, right?
That being the case, take note! It may be that what's happening in the financial world at large could be considered a warning, as in it's time for some new strategies. While it's not likely you'll hear these strategies from your financial planner, there are wealth attraction techniques that have been historically employed by the most successful entrepreneurs, scientist, artists, musicians and yes, even the "super traders."
If you are tired of feeling insecure, perhaps frustrated enough to want to take charge yourself, maybe it's time you did. Learn to shift your focus from what has already happened to new possibilities that expand not only your financial freedom but freedom on every level.
