That’s me! There comes a time in our career when we are an adept, or someone who is skilled. And while we may be accomplished there’s always room for betterment or growth. You challenge yourself only to feel like the neophyte when attempting to learn new skills. You feel as if you failed and then return back to the person who is lacking courage, is doubtful and uncertain as to whether they made the right decision to push past perceived levels of expertise.
We all feel like this at certain times in our life, especially when we’re learning something new. Whether it’s a new skill or a trade, it’s still something that you’re unaccustomed to or haven’t run across in the past. So yes, you are a beginner once again.
Just as you tackle the challenges that you face when you’re learning anything new, adding onto a previously learned skill could bring about a host of emotional insecurities. Do feel inadequate, do you feel dumb, do you familiarize and ask yourself what was I thinking, why am I doing any of this in the first place? Yes, we’ve all been in those shoes!
There’s always room for growth, and that will never stop. Quest for knowledge is just a reaffirmation that you’re actually on the right track. You realize you’ve mastered one skill and it’s time to move forward and graduate to a higher level of learning. After all, that is why you’re here, on earth, in the first place – to learn, grow, master your existence, and that includes every single aspect of your being! While it may seem foolish, embrace the changes that are taking place within you as you learn and grow through these daunting skill-builders because one day they, too, will be skills that you have mastered.
