I’m BORED !

I hear this from time to time from the few friends I have left who have survived living with HIV/AIDS. I have survived taking meds since 1986.
And, yes, at times, I have said the same thing myself - I am BORED. When in fact, in my mind, I was simply lazy.
It seemed easier to be a BMW (B!#CH, Moan and Whine) than to do something, anything, to take away my boredom. And certainly living in a rural area, as I do now, where my nearest neighbor is ¼ mile away and the community consist of a meeting hall, 3 churches, post office and a small convenience store.
But I have never been bored here even though I consider myself lazy. Because boredom comes from stagnancy, from not doing or growing on some level or by being stuck in the same routine without taking a break. And perhaps it is my desire to continue to grow that I rarely ever feel bored.
When I am bored I ask myself:
1)what can I do that is different than yesterday
2) what can I learn that interest me
3) what can I express in some way
I find myself sitting outside in the evening watching the beauty as the sun goes down and reflecting on the accomplishments of the day. Every days accomplishments are always a little different if you really analyze it logically.
I turn of the T.V. or radio and just enjoy the silent moment before I start reading a topic of interest. And since you are reading this I can only presume you have access to the worlds largest library- the internet.
And sometimes I will just pick up the flute and try and trudge my way through a song.

Boredom comes from apathy that not only screams for action but also can kill the desire to act. SO if your bored try something new, experience something old, or simply sit back, be lazy and wallow in your misery driving your BMW right through your natural desire to continue to grow on some level.
Having lived in the city as well as rural area I know that boredom is baggage that is always waiting to be taken out. Instead take out your curiosity, your wonder, your desire, your interest, your hopes and dreams and explore those pieces of baggage instead. It might just be a pleasant surprise.
