Have something to say, and say it as clearly as you can.
That is the only SECRET.
~ Matthew A
old, English Poet
If you’ve seen the movie, “The Secret,” as have millions around the globe, you are more than likely thrilled that the “Secret” is out. As a practitioner in the self-growth industries, you have probably known the “Secret” for years and perhaps you apply it in your practice. You’ve been helping others with your specialized skills that heal on the mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical levels. But you can only help a limited number of people with your gifted services.
How would you like to help thousands or more, rather than hundreds with the knowledge and expertise you’ve acquired over the years? How would you like to impact millions with your wisdom and words? The time is right NOW for you to get YOUR message out to the now-ready masses of people ripe for the next step—after the Secret.
One of the best ways to impact millions and help others with your wisdom and words is by writing a book. You can also do it through writing articles, blog posts, newsletters, workbooks, e-courses, and other forms of the printed and electronic word. However, for the purposes of this article, I will be discussing the writing of books and e-books. You can always start with an article or blog post to hone your writing skills, and then move on to a book or e-book.
As a ghostwriter for the self growth market, I’ve been helping people write books for almost 20 years. I’m committed to helping you help others, because I know you have so much to share, I know there are so many people you could be helping, and I know you have the desire to help others. Yet, as a service provider you may be clueless as to how to transfer your knowledge, experience, and wisdom into words and onto the pages of a book. You may have a highly developed right brain and have never had the training or guidance on how to use the logical side of your brain to write down your thoughts and ideas and turn them into a book.
If you are a life coach, therapist, counselor, new thought minister, practitioner, motivational speaker, personal growth trainer, nutritional consultant, body worker, yoga instructor, or alte
ative health care provider (naturopath, acupuncturist, chiropractor), you are a member of what I call the Self Growth industries.
You are an expert in your field. You enjoy helping others with the skills you apply in your services. However, you are trading your time for dollars—that is, unless you have a large practice and have others working for you. In either case, have you ever thought about how a book could leverage you, by working fewer hours at your practice and adding another income stream with a product?
A book takes the essence of what you share in your service and turns it into a product. Once you’ve created that product and put marketing systems in place, you will have an ongoing source of passive income. Your book will be selling 24/7 off your own website, Amazon’s online bookstore, or any of the other online booksellers.
Additionally, a book can enhance your service business in so many ways.
? It establishes you as an expert
? It boosts your professional credentials
? It builds your client base
? It develops a passive income stream
? It offers a product for add-on sales at presentations
So what is the SECRET for writing for the self-growth markets As the English poet, Matthew A
old, so succinctly put it, “Have something to say, and say it as clearly as you can.” To take this a little further, I would suggest these three guidelines:
1. Know yourself
2. Know your message
3. Know your market
When you thoroughly know yourself, your message, and your market, you will know what you have to say, you will be able to say it clearly, and you will know who you are talking to! So, that’s it! That’s the SECRET to writing for this market. That’s the SECRET to how to impact millions with your wisdom and words. So, what are you waiting for? Pick up that pen or sit down at the keyboard and start pouring your wisdom onto the page.
