Houston Home Care assistance refers to having a person, usually working through an agency, come into the home to aid the client with housework, health needs, basic activities like getting dressed and showering, or running errands. The client pays the agency for the services, which then pays the worker. Workers receive pay by the hour, per job, or receive partial payment in the form of room and board.
Live-in caregivers such as those provided by Houston Elder care live in the client’s home, as a boarder. In exchange for room and board, the worker performs the needed duties for the client. Sometimes the worker performs health related care giving, or instead performs household tasks and runs errands, or some combination of the two. Besides accepting payment as room and board, the worker sometimes gets a small amount of cash, additionally. The agency is the one who decides and sets the worker's rates.
Occasionally, workers wanting to be live-in caregivers work without an agency, advertising for themselves in the classified section of local newspapers. This, however, means more work for each of them. The client must do their own background checks, call character references, and call past employers of the potential worker. Insurance for the worker, tax records and payroll information is the responsibility of the client, who may not be up to it. For the worker, all of their advertising, hunting for job prospects, and negotiating remains their job to handle. This is where both sides may instead prefer to go through a care-giving agency, which handles all of those details.
Hourly caregivers such as those provided by Houston Caregiver, also known as home-health aides, keep track of all of their hours, agreed upon through the agency and the client, and are paid weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, for their services. They can call in sick to the agency, who will try to find a temporary replacement. Home care firms are the go-between for the needs of both the client and the worker. Some of these firms also offer their workers continuing education, leading up to Certification as a home health aide.
For those who prefer to have, or become, a live-in aide, it is crucial to make sure that they are compatible for sharing living space. If one smokes heavily but the other is allergic to smoke, a short-lived arrangement is certain. All parties involved should sign a complete list of expected duties the worker will perform. Good communication from the beginning is the key element.
