The World Health Organization (WHO) defines infertility as the inability to conceive a child. A couple may be considered infertile if, after two years of regular sexual intercourse, without contraception, the woman has not become pregnant.

A couple may be infertile due to infection in either man or woman or both as well. The general term used for treatment of infertility is Assistant Reproductive Technology (ART) which refers to methods used to achieve pregnancy by artificial or partially artificial methods.

Reports says that nearly 30 million couples in India suffer from infertility and the emotional breakdown and disappointment of couples because of infertility affect their general health, relationships and living style too, making infertility more than a mere disease and hence Infertility Treatment India gains utmost importance.

But what causes infertility? Is it the life style of couples to be blamed or it is something beyond their own control?

Infertility can actually be caused myriad of reasons including genetic factors, diabetes, adrenal diseases, Hypothalamic-pituitary factors and environmental factors. Accounting particularly in females, it can be due to ovulation problems, tubal blockage, and uterine problems while specifically in males, it can be because of low semen quality or low sperm count.

Now, the genuine question - that is what are the options for Infertility Treatment India?

At minor levels, female patients can be successfully diagnosed by using drugs like Clomiphene Citrate, Bromocriptine or Gonadotrophins. For male infertility we can again use administration of drugs which has exhibited admirable results in past as well.

The doctors may also suggest the use of a conception cap - cervical cap. Sperm is being placed inside the can and conception device is put on cervix. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is also commonly practiced in which doctor insert sperm into uterus during ovulation. In all such methods, fertilization occurs inside the body.

ART methods can overcome barriers to natural fertilization such as anatomical problems (e.g.blocked fallopian tubes). The trusted technique for females is in-vitro fertilization (IVF), while for male for males we have ART methods such as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). ART itself accounts for twenty percent of the total patients diagnosed for infertility. However in ART methods, fertilization takes place outside the body.
