Marketing is less about getting more customers; it is more about finding people who are responsive to your message. Most people think that marketing is about getting more customers and eyeballs on their material. However, the proper way of thinking about marketing is to find people who are predisposed to buying your product and closing more of those sales. This will help a business focus their efforts on things that will bring in sales to the business and allow them to make more money in the long run.
Most businesses spend too much time trying to get clients to buy who will never buy from the business. A lot of marketing hours and dollars are wasted on trying to convert these customers when their time is better suited on working on customers who will buy from the business. Therefore, when the main goals marketing should be to repel people who do not will not buy from the business in the future.
A business that tries to be everything to everyone is a business does not take much money. Therefore, it pays to have an opinion about everything that the business does. This is the best way to find good customers who buy into the message the company and will become champions of that company. These champions will help push the business to greater heights because they becoming invisible sales force for the business. They also attract other people who are like-minded and therefore good customers bring in good customers like themselves.
There is no business that likes to deal with customers that give them problems. In the beginning, most businesses need to deal with these kinds customers because they do not have the cash flow to ignore these types of clients. However, the smart for business to begin to weed out these bad customers as soon as possible so that they can have a profitable business that is easy and fun to work with instead of a pain. The sooner a business can focus on the people who are good customers, want, and like to do business with that business. The sooner the business owner will feel free to do business, as they want instead of how they are forced to do it.
The truth of the situation is that everyone works for someone. However, was not available to some individuals and some businesses is the ability to pick and choose who they work for and when they will work for those people. If you are going to have to work for someone you might as will be working for people that know like and trust or at least you want to do business with in the future. Getting a clear marketing message will definitely help a business find the customers that they want to do business with in repel those customers they do not want to do business with away from their business.
In closing, a business should always to try to develop a strong working message that is intended to attract customers that would do well inside the business and repel those customers that would not do well inside of their business away from them. If a business can successfully do this then they will find that they will make a lot more money over the years than if they had not done it. Therefore, develop a strong working message and you will find that your business will do better.
