Is There An (Boomer) Olympics In Your Life? Ps: just a ‘small’ Olympics

Have you ever tried for something so hard, for so long, that you wanted so badly and then it worked?

I’ll tell you, I watch these athletes in the Olympics and I am always so amazed. I grew up watching them with my folks, and my daughters and I watched in their growing up years. They are watching them now.

Besides the fact that, silly me, I get tears in my eyes when I see these people, especially the young girls, compete for everything they are worth, I know they are living their dream. And they made it happen. That’s the incredible part. Not only did they have this dream, but they had enormous support.

These Olympians did not do this in a vacuum. They did not do this alone. They had support of family, friends, community………the works.

What ICG’s do you have? (That’s Incredibly Crazy Goals) I mean seriously, I am sure there is something that you have always wanted to do and never did. I know I am not going to climb Mt. Everest, but I did climb Long’s Peak! That’s a Fourteener in Estes Park, Colorado. It was really tough for me and I wasn’t the shape I wanted/should have been in, but it wasn’t a race. I did it. That’s all that mattered.

What have you done recently that really pushed you? That really made you think, OMG, I can’t do this! And then you did it anyway.

If there hasn’t been that in your recent weeks/months/years..then when are you going to start? You can’t tell me that rocking chair is looking attractive. PLEASE tell me that rocking chair isn’t looking attractive!

For those of you who have sat or are still sitting in offices, its TIME. Time to get out of that chair, that corner office, that cubicle, whatever. DO something.

Call it your own little Boomer Olympics. Just set yourself a goal. Get support. (if your loved ones don’t support you, then keep looking!) Then JUST DO IT! Nike says a lot of things right and this is one of them.n
