Many of the people we speak to currently use a marketing company that they may have been with for month or years and if they’re working well for you, then that’s great.

However, more often than not, we find that the activities the current marketing company are doing don’t result in lead generation. The activities are more around social media, PR or writing blogs.

These ‘awareness/brand building’ activities are great if that’s what you’re looking for, but if you really want meetings and appointments in the diary, then they won’t necessarily result in this.

Our philosophy on this is a little bit different. While we obviously do these types of marketing activities for our clients, we start with lead generation and use ‘awareness/brand building’ activities to support the campaign rather than starting with them.

Let me give you an example:

Lead generation would come first using a database or building one through LinkedIn or another source. We would contact these companies using a combination of LinkedIn, email and telemarketing in order to book appointments.

However, we also recognise that it’s important for a potential client to be able to get a feel for your business when they’re researching you so to support the lead generation activities that we do, we would also supplement this with PR, email marketing, social media activities and blog writing.

It’s just a slight ‘tweak’ but it makes the world of difference by concentrating on the lead generation first and foremost.

So are your current marketing company focusing on ‘fluffy’ activities? If so, maybe it’s worth us having a chat. Why not book a time in my diary to have a chat, email me on helen.dowling@exceptionalthinking.co.uk or call me on 01386 298 042?
