Let Go and Let God

Philippians 3:13
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

Philippians 3:14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Now that we’re into this new year, if we’re not careful we can become stagnant or paralyzed by the things that happened to us in 2009.

But, Paul reminds us that we must not settle with the disappointments, road blocks, and
set backs of the past.

No matter whether things were good, bad or ugly (The Past is just that the Past) we must continue to Press on…

The word Press is the greek word di?k?
to run swiftly in order to catch a person or thing, to run after
to seek after eagerly, earnestly endeavour to acquire

To Press also suggests that we’ll sometimes have to go forward without the encouragment from others. It suggest the moving forward won’t be easy - it will take perseverance.

To forget those things behind does not suggest that we need to not remember the lessons that were learned in our past experiences but, more importantly that we don’t stop there.

This same book of the bible reaffirms this by telling us to - Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
(Phil. 4:6) NLT

(Phil. 4:7) Gives us this promise, If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. (NLT)
Either we’re going to live in the past or we’re going Thank God for the fact that we’ve mad it through, And we’re going to Let God have his way.

That’s key, we all want to be in control of our life but the best way to have success is to allow God to have his way - and that’s not to say that our ways are always wrong,
But often times we want what we want when we want.
And God is a God of timing and seasons, and only He know when we are ready for whatever it is that we may be praying for.

So if you’ve prayed about something but haven’t received it yet - it doesn’t necessarily mea
God is saying, No maybe he’s just saying Not Yet - it’s not time.

So many places in scripture let us know that many times there are battles that come our way that we don’t have to fight..
Like when David said to (Goliath) the Philistine,(I Sam.17:45- 46) Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied

And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle [is] the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.

In II Chron.20:5
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle [is] not yours, but God's.

II Chron. 20:22
And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten

Everything that comes against us, is not always for us to fight, there are some situations that God just wants us to trust in Him and Lean not to our own understanding but to acknowledge Him and He will direct our path.

Worry and faith don’t go together
Either you’re going to worry or you are going to have faith in God but you can’t do both.

And If you want to please God
Hebrews 11:6 tells us that
So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. (NLT)

So if you’re going to pray to Him believe in Him and he’ll work everything out for your good.
