There are simply too many other things cluttering our lives. In order to achieve your most inspiring goals clear the things that zap your energy, time and resources so they can be redirected into the achievement of your goal.
"We find no real satisfaction or happiness in life without obstacles to conquer and goals to achieve." Maxwell Maltz, Communication Bulletin for Managers & Supervisors, June 2004
Life coaches call all the clutter in our lives tolerations. Just as the word sounds there are things that we are putting up with in our lives that we do not need to be putting up with.
What are these things that clutter your life, zap your energy, take your time and drain your resources?
Your list may look something like this:
- A desk full of stacks of paper.
- Peeling wallpaper.
- Being overweight.
- Not saving money each month.
- Too many possessions that need to be cleaned.
- Not enough time to spend in the garden.
- Clients who cancel appointments at the last minute.
- Evening telephone solicitations.
- Spending eight hours a day in a room with no window.
If you find yourself stuck on your path to success you probably need to eliminate some tolerations. Look back over your list and group your tolerations into the following groups:
- What is the physical stuff that is blocking you from doing what you need to do to accomplish your goal? For example, is your desk to messy to work at?
- What is distracting you from thinking clearly? For example, are you too stressed over your finances to get a good night of sleep?
- What do you keep dealing with or putting up with over and over and over again? For example, your kids keep locking themselves out of the house causing you to often leave work early which has led to a warning from your boss.
By not dealing with your tolerations you are allowing these things to remain in your life, distracting you from going for what you want or being what you know you could be. These tolerations are zapping you of your energy, your time and your resources that would better serve you if focused towards the achievement of your most desired goals.
