Life Coaches – How Is Your Approach To Problem Solving Different?

Life Coaches are sprouting up all over the Internet as this industry explodes. So how do you set yourself apart from other coaches? Although we may not be in “competition” per se, we still need to make ourselves distinct from each other.
What is unique about you as a coach?
· Is it the style in which you coach? · Do you have personal experience in the problems you now solve? · Is your solution unique? · Do you have a “step-by-step” system you offer? · Is your approach to a problem taken from a different slant? · Is your solution endorsed by well-known people or celebrities? · Is it your warm, caring, compassionate personality – that comes across in videos? · Do you have extraordinary wisdom in how to solve the problems? · Can you identify emotional blockages to overcoming problems – and have a solution to getting rid of those emotional blockages? · Do you get into the “stinking thinking” behind the problem? · Do you know why your prospect would be resistant to getting help? · Do you know why your competitors’ approaches to solving this problem don’t work? · Do you focus only on one problem – instead of trying to promote yourself as having the answers to all of life’s problems?
Did you find yourself in any of the above? If not, you need to sit down and take a serious look at what you offer your prospects.
Once you’ve identified one or more of the above points, it’s time to develop a paragraph about why you are unique to solve the problem you solve. This is known as your Unique Selling Point (USP).
One suggestion to get started is to fill in the blanks on the following sentence.
“Because I _____________, I can help you _______________.”
Here are a few examples:
· Because I have personally gone through this problem and completely overcame it, I understand what you’re going through and can help you also overcome your problem with _______________. · Because my approach to this problem comes from a different angle, and my clients have been able to resolve this problem once they see this new approach, I can help you see your problems from a different perspective and quickly overcome them. · Because I understand some of the stinking thinking that goes on with this type of problem, thoughts like ____________________, I can help you identify your thoughts and behaviors that also need changing. · Because I have identified a key element to this problem that others do not address, I can help you quickly overcome this problem.
You can keep repeating this sentence to help you clarify all the unique elements of who you are and why your approach to solving a particular problem is better than your competitors.
Now, add some examples to this paragraph. Either use your own personal struggle to overcome a particular problem, or one from a client (maintaining confidentiality, of course). What was the person’s life like before they started working on the problem. And now how is their life different or better after resolving this problem? Be specific in your details.
You will use this USP information when you write your love letter (sales letter) on your website. Your aim is to connect with your prospect’s heart so they know that you understand the pain they’re going through. By seeing that you have helped others to overcome it, they will begin to have some hope for their situation. Then they will want to learn more from you.
You may need to learn how to change the style and content of your website to promote you and your solutions in a way that connects with your prospect’s heart.
