Can you relate to the following story?nnJust the other day Jen walked into my office with a frustrated look on her face..."I can't do this anymore, I quit!" She exclaimed.nn"What's wrong?" I asked. Fully expecting what the answer was going to be. nn"I have hit the wall! She answered. I can't lose anymore weight."nnThere it was, the response that I had heard so many times before and it was hardly uncommon. With a goal of losing 15 pounds this month, Jen had started out wonderfully. In fact she had lost 5 pounds her very first week! She was doing all the right things... n
    n
  • -Her diet was great
  • n
  • -Her eating habits were improving
  • n
  • -And she was exercising regularly
  • n
nSo why did she suddenly "hit the wall"?nnExperiencing a weight loss plateau is perhaps the number one reason most people give up trying to lose weight. The weight loss simply becomes such a struggle that they can't muster the effort to go any further.nnPerhaps this describes your previous weight loss attempt?nnBut why do we experience weight loss plateaus?nnMany "experts" would have you believe that it is completely normal. That you can...No, that you should expect to hit a plateau when you are trying to shed those extra pounds. But is this the truth? Hardly!nnContrary to popular belief, weight loss doesn't have to be a struggle. There are two primary causes for hitting a plateau. In fact, only in very rare instances does someone hit a plateau that was not caused by one of the following...nnFirst and foremost, if you are a "dieter", using weight loss medication, or trying surgery you will hit a weight loss wall. The vast majority of the fad diets and other weight loss methods that are available can't be sustained. In fact, any diet or other method designed specifically for weight loss will fail in the long run. Weight loss is not a product that can be purchased, it's a lifestyle. Unless you consistently eat the right food and follow the correct eating habits you will hit a wall. nnWhich leads to the second of the two primary reasons...Consistency.nnAssuming that you begin to eat the correct weight loss food and follow the proper eating habits, the only thing that can stop you is lack of consistency. In fact, this is the exact reason why Jen had "hit the wall." Like so many others, she began strong, but after a short period she was falling back into her old patterns. One week it was a harmless trip through the drive through and the next it was two trips...You get the picture. Lack of consistency will kill your weight loss results!nnIn case your wondering how the story ended...We corrected Jen's consistency and she went on to reach her 15 pound goal.nnIt's not always easy to be consistent. However, the rewards are more than worth it. If you consistently follow the correct plan you can achieve amazing weight loss in a very short amount of time and avoid the plateau. n
