Have you just gotten an invitation for your high school reunion? Do you want to be the hottest looking eligible bachelorette at an upcoming wedding? Did your sweetheart plan a romantic island getaway for two? Then you know what it’s like to suddenly feel the need to lose weight fast.
No one recommends that you attempt to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time on a diet of cabbage soup; the stress on your system would reach unhealthy levels, and we don’t want that for you. Knocking off as much as 25 pounds shouldn’t be that much of a problem, if you do it right, have time, and stay focused on your goal.
Let’s take a look at some tried and true, healthy tips for losing weight fast, whenever you need to. As always, though, check in with your doctor to make sure you’re on the “up-and-up” before starting any weight loss program, no matter how large or small.
Exercise.
Ugh! It can be such a drag. And particularly in today’s world, where most of us spend our time tethered to a desk, exercise is a crucial element to any weight loss program. And if you’re not Buffy the fitness princess to begin with, you won’t believe how fast the weight comes off once you get up and going. Anything that gets the heart pumping is best. Try swimming, power walking, jogging, and aerobic exercise classes.
Drink, drank, but not drunk.
Drink at least 100 ounces of water every single day. Cut back on the soda, juice, smoothies, and milk shakes, and drink alcohol responsibly if you really want that weight to come off. If you like your Apple Martini’s, you’ll be shocked at how fast you lose weight when you cut back.
Go natural.
Try to eat fresh. You will avoid any hidden calorie bombs lurking in “light” and “low-fat” packaged foods. Eat a chicken breast instead of a microwave chicken cutlet, or a fresh piece of salmon instead of the number five meal at Captain George’s fast food joint. Buy cheese from your local farmer’s market instead of individually wrapped slices of orange goop. Cut up and blend your own fruit for juices and smoothies instead of buying them ready-to-drink.
Don’t check your progress every day.
Although it can be tempting to break this rule, wait a week until you step foot on the scale. This allows you to stay positive longer, and you’ll be thrilled with the result when you finally do get on.
Compete with a friend.
Make it fun. Nothing motivates people more than wanting to be the best. By teaming up with someone else that’s looking to lose weight fast, you can keep each other focused and even have a contest to see who is the biggest loser. Go ahead, make the stakes high because in the end it’ll be worth it! This is one of the reasons wht the show "The Biggest Loser" has placed a lot of emphasis on couples and families lately. It can make a huge difference.
Remember to keep it safe and healthy, and you’ll soon find that you’re ready for your big event, looking “slim and trim” and feeling great!
