Let’s face it, nobody looks forward to doing laundry. This statement is even more true among large families. By the time you’ve gathered everyone’s dirty clothes, sorted them by color and material, it’s already cocktail hour. Really, who wants to fold a week's worth of laundry while holding a martini? For those of us without the proper storage techniques in place, laundry day can be a downright nightmare. This is where the vicious cycle begins, you put off doing laundry because there are too many clothes cluttering up your wash room and your washroom continues to become more cluttered. It doesn’t have to be like this. If you’re ready to break free from this dysfunctional laundry cycle, have a look at some of these clever, space saving, laundry room organizers. Hampers Most of us agree that the concept of a hamper is great, but it does lack the option to sort your clothing. The wrong hamper choice results in unsightly piles of clothes scattered about and an unused or overflowing hamper, yet another blight on the bedroom landscape. A smart solution is the 3bin laundry sorter. This clever storage device provides three separate bins, all connected together. Use one for whites, one for colors and the other for towels. This is an excellent way to shave time off your laundry chores by eliminating the sorting step. These bins are also available on wheels, a great option for big laundry days. For a variation on this model, take a look at the aluminum frame double hamper, which provides two bins conveniently labeled, “darks” and “lights.” This is a surefire way to eliminate the hassle of sorting and to stay tidy and organized. The bins are generously sized to allow plenty of room for big loads. If space is an issue in your home, have a look at the bench hamper. This unique product conceals your dirty laundry by housing it inside an attractive bench that flips right open. Keep it at the foot of the bed, next to the closet or in the bathroom. Your dirty laundry never looked so good. Shelving Laundry day can be an especially taxing chore if your detergents, fabric softeners, starch and other tools are scattered about the laundry room. In addition to the unsightly clutter, it takes up more of your precious time to search for the right products. You can keep all of your laundry supplies in one spot by using the right type of storage techniques. Try a washing machine wire shelf, for example. Install it right over your washing machine so your soaps are at arm’s length. This is a seldom used spot that few of us take advantage of. Or maybe the laundry caddy is a better fit for your storage needs. This clever little unit consists of narrow drawers that fit securely between your washer and dryer. Keep all your laundry needs neatly tucked away and easy to access without taking up hardly any space in your already cramped laundry room. If your laundry room is like most, space is at a premium. So rather than brining in a bulky set of shelves, look for ways to use space above, in between and around your appliances. The less time you spend fumbling for the proper equipment, the faster you can get on with your day. Hangers For most of us, an inevitable part of life means that at least some of our clothes must be stored on hangers. It’s pretty easy for all these hangers to clutter up the laundry room, particularly when things must be hung directly out of the dryer to prevent wrinkles, or just after they’ve been ironed. Luckily, there are a few ways to avoid this annoying hanger clutter altogether. The iron hanger pad is an excellent solution. It provides sturdy notches right beneath your ironing board for you to hang your clothing. You won’t have to walk away from the ironing board, an issue of convenience and safety too. This is a great example of taking advantage of the space you already have around your laundry room essentials. As you can see, with the right tools, laundry day doesn’t have to be a major annoyance. By taking the time to select the right hamper and using your space in smart ways, you can create a smooth laundry day routine that doesn’t feel like such a chore after all.
