Using an employee engagement strategy to help boost performance, open communication and gain trust with your staff members can make a huge impact on the daily operation of your business.
I remember back to my first job, I had to sell computer supplies, not exciting, but I was proud of it. The company had so many rules in place that it was difficult to actually achieve the targets that they set. I went to work each day because I had to, I had no faith in what I was doing and was thrown in straight from college with no idea on how to sell.
Open Communication
After a few years of the same thing over and over each and every day I moved on to another company, but remained in the same field. To my surprise every Friday we all sat in this huge boardroom and everyone had the opportunity to speak and voice their opinions regarding problems, how to improve things and anything about their work in general. You can imagine how excited I was and when I spoke, everyone listened; they actually focussed on me for a change and really heard my conce
s and what I had to say.
Then through strategic planning the changes were made and things were made a lot easier, this immediately improved my sales turnover and I was part of this improvement, it felt so good and I trusted by employer enough after that to approach them with all my ideas, I wasn’t afraid to voice my conce
s anymore because it wasn’t ignored, I was listened to.
Get Staff Involved in the Business
This is basically what employee engagement strategy is all about; it’s learning how to get your staff involved in the business through open communication. This has welcoming results, it builds trust and it boosts the performance of the staff members. The great thing is it doesn’t just become a monthly pay cheque anymore; it becomes something to be proud of, something to believe in and something to work towards.
