Manic depression or Bipolar depression is considered one of the worst type's of depression that people suffer from.

Characterized by sudden and extreme mood changes, Manic depression is known as such because manic refers to the 'ups' while depression refers to the 'downs'.
A lot of people actually experience very erratic changes in their moods, some times, these so-called mood swings are not just caused by PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome) or stress. Doctors have actually diagnosed mood swings as a common symptom of depression.

But when these so-called mood swings have risen to utmost absurdity, from getting disturbed at even the littlest or simplest of things like not getting your favorite desert, this might not be just a sign of being a brat, but when getting disturbed means that you cuss and swear for not getting your favorite dessert and throw temper tantrums, this can be a symptom of Manic depression. The manic or 'ups' in Manic depression is described as being the times when a person suffering from Manic depression can experience overly high periods, consisting of heightened energy, sudden outburst's of euphoric mood, extreme irritability, thoughts racing in their head as well as very aggressive behavior.
According to some of the top therapists, a person suffering from Manic depression can have these so-called manic periods where sudden outbursts of euphoric and elevated mood swings can actually last for a day, week or even longer at times.

When it comes to the low or down periods, depression as its name suggests can actually make a person who is suffering from Manic depression experience very similar symptoms to those who are suffering from actual depression. People who are suffering from Manic depression might actually experience episodes of a depressed state of mind - a feeling of worthlessness and being unloved might begin to corrupt the persons thought's. Various symptoms are as such; showing guilt, extreme sadness, panic attacks, anxiety attacks, feeling like you do not belong, extreme pessimism and obvious loss for pleasure. According to some top therapists, an individual who is depressed consistently for more than a week may officially be diagnosed as suffering from Manic depression.

In spite of being one of the most common, yet severe type's of depressive disorder, Manic depression according to doctors can actually be treated successfully. Make sure you follow the proper procedures that the therapist instructs you to do, take the proper prescribed medications and dosage in order to help you to overcome Manic depression. Also, some individuals who are suffering from Manic depression should always be able to see or talk to their therapists on a regular basis to be able to release their pent up emotions with someone who can interpret and understand what they're going through.

Although some very positive results for a Manic depressive patient can be achieved from various natural alternatives, a more lasting relief from Manic depressive can still be best acquired through seeing cognitive behavior therapists. Contrary to some peoples beliefs, when it comes to psychiatric treatment, psychiatrists more preferably cognitive behavior therapists are still among the best to consult for Manic depression, as well as being the one most likely to be able to cure your Manic depression.
