I am an Australian and am passionate about all global events - both current and historical. Today I discovered this most poignant fact, and after just reading "The Audacity of Hope", I would love to share with all Americans, without any political agenda:
Martin Luther King, Jnr made his famous “I Had a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC on 28 August 1963.
Democratic presumptive nominee, Barack Obama, will make his acceptance speech as the party’s first African-American presidential nominee on the last day of the DNC convention. That day will be 28 August 2008.
The exact anniversary – 45 years later.
Please recall one of the most famous lines of King's famous speech:
"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." - Martin Luther King, Jnr.
