The way that people and businesses find local companies and services in Manchester, has transformed radically in recent years. The increased use of the internet now means that the once traditional advertising sources, such as flyers, newspapers and printed business directories such as the yellow pages, the phone book and the thomson local directory are simple not being used as much as their digital counterparts. The use of popular search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo!, as well as the growing number of social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, has meant that business owners and individuals, have had no choice but to change the way they that advertise their products or services.
The previous system involved a cold call from someone representing one of these traditional advertising resources, who simple sold you an ad in their publication, the price you paid depended on the size of the ad, whether is was in colour or monochrome and how many publications your ad appeared in as companies such as the yellow pages had different publications covering different areas. So did this approach work? we'll it used to work because anyone needing a local plumber, plasterer, electrician or even a local garage simply reached for their favourite local publication. So what about nowadays? We'll I challenge you to locate your copy of any of these publications? and if you do know where you put them after they came through your door when did you last use them to find a local business?
The truth is that these once dominate advertising mediums have had their day, once they ruled the advertising industry, but now these publications are getting smaller and smaller and anyone who does still pay to be featured in them is doing so simply out of obligation or loyalty and if your advertising budget is small then it can be better spent on an advertising medium that does actually work. A recent survey revealed that three-quarters of UK households now have home internet access, with the a massive 89% of the remaining quarter still able to access internet services at work, school, college or via a smart phone, meaning that the internet is the first place as staggering 96% of the UK population look to find products or services.
The main problem with advertising on the internet is that to get new business you need to be found for your niche or search term on the first page of the results, which is where internet marketing and search engine optimisation companies come into play, and whilst some Manchester SEO companies are amongst the best in the industry there are also a growing number of unprofessional SEO companies popping up in the area who have no internet marketing skills at all and are simply trying to cash in on a lucrative business niche, so unlike the past where you simply knew the major players in advertising ,nowadays you must be vigilant and fully investigate any company that your thinking about working with, the simplest way to do this is to contact their current or past clients. A professional SEO company will completely understand your request and be able to provide the business details, website addresses and most importantly the search terms that they worked with, and don't just take their word for it, do a search for the keywords yourself and see if the result stand true, and you must contact these companies through the contact details on their own websites and ask which marketing company they worked or work with.
Social Media is another important factor in search engine optimisation and internet marketing but not in the way your think! A forthright, proficient SEO company should have fully active Facebook and Twitter accounts that you can access and follow. Facebook and Twitter have become an invaluable resource for good internet marketing companies, allowing them to interact with clients and post their results and achievements for all to see.
