There is a misconception that simply being thin means you are healthy. Being skinny does not necessarily translate into you being in good shape. You can actually carry a few extra pounds but still be healthy if you follow a good nutrition plan and a fitness regimen which involves muscle building.
First of all, I want to address one of the biggest beliefs about fitness and fat loss, and that is the only way to lose weight is to perform hours of cardiovascular exercises and eating as little as possible.
That is wrong! The fastest to lose weight and feel good is to eat in moderation and incorporate muscle building exercises into your fitness regimen.
Merely lifting weights does not mean you are going to end up looking like a bodybuilder. A typical person will not have sufficient protein intake to build muscles that big. Also, it takes many years of lifting to look anywhere near a bodybuilder. Lifting weights will instead give you the lean and toned body you have always wanted! Engaging your muscles and working them on a regular basis will increase your lean body mass percentage. As lean muscle mass burns fats, your metabolism will naturally increase as your lean muscle mass increases in quantity!
There are many ways to feed your body during a muscle building program. But remember that regardless of the diet you choose, you have to keep your caloric intake in check.
To build muscles and lose fats effectively, you have to understand that diets are not supposed to be temporary or you will never achieve the body you really want. You must make correct food decisions and realize that you will require a lifestyle change. Your nutrition program should be a choice you follow for the rest of your life. The moment you understand and accept that, you will find changing your body much easier.
To promote faster muscle growth, you will need to take in more protein. Protein is the building block of muscle building. Protein feeds your muscles and with appropriate exercises, makes them grow.
When people think about protein, they automatically associate it with meat, poultry, and fish. As much protein as these foods contain, doesn't mean vegetarians should give up on protein consumption. There are a many different sources of protein including, beans, low fat peanut butter and milk.
In conclusion, it is important to also concentrate on building muscles, as the more lean muscle mass you possess, the higher your resting metabolism rate is.
