This morning I was working with a client who seemed to need the ability to check in with herself regarding decisions that would come up in business or even life in general but was scared she was misinterpreting her own gut feeling. In a matter of just a few minutes I explained to her how to muscle test using her hand and assured her within a few minutes of practicing the technique she would be able to "check" herself and her gut decisions on the fly with confidence.
So what is muscle testing? Some refer to it as Kinesiology testing wherein you test the strength and weakness of your body’s physical response to asking a question. The concept is your body will "lock" when the response it strong, yes, or confirmed, just as your body will "unlock" when the response is weak or a no. The key behind using muscle testing is the way you phrase your questions, because the questions must be in a yes or no response format.
But how do you do it?
Place your thumb over the nail of your first finger of your dominant hand.
Using your first finger and thumb of the non-dominant hand you try to "break" the "lock" of your thumb and first finger on your dominant hand pushing outward against the thumb and first fingers.
Sound confusing? Not really; it just take a few minutes to set up your dominant hand. Now, breathe and make the following statement: “I would like to connect with my higher self.” Pause, then ask: “Am I connected?” Test the response. Did you break the lock on your dominant hand? If no, then congratulations! You’ve just done your first muscle test. If you did, then re-center yourself and repeat the statement and question.
Now the fun begins. Ask yourself some simple questions, like “Is my name Jane?” using your real and/or a fake name to test to see the answer. Then ask other non-life-threatening questions until you build your confidence in the connection.
As you become more confident, use the muscle testing to support you when making bigger or on-the-fly decisions. It is another mobile stress and anxiety buster modality that is discrete and personal to you. If you have questions about asking the right questions, email me at karen@therapyintransition.org. I would be honored to help you with this.
Until next time, good testing and remember to embrace your inner wisdom.
Namaste,
Karen
