My Story: From Brain Tumor to Pearl!
On February 26, 2006, I was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. I felt as if I was pushed off a tall building and began rapidly falling to the ground. It was “fly or die” time. It was then that I realized the true power of my inner survivor skills. I knew that there was no amount of money, nor any one person, that could help me now: this was between my Creator and myself.

And so began my journey. I began to fly. On this journey, I have expanded my faith and learned the meaning of hope, trust and patience. I have learned that life and living are not necessarily the same thing. When faced with an actual expiration date, having been told that I could die within a few years, I decided to focus on living. I learned to appreciate every breath as a privilege and a gift!

I had a biopsy done at Duke University because the tumor is virtually inoperable, and was offered a clinical trial with chemo. Instead, I chose a non-traditional treatment with Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski in Houston, Texas. I trust my sense of intuition and relied on it in this very important decision making process. I subsequently attended a healing retreat in Brazil and have explored many other alte
ative healing techniques. My most recent experience was the Life Change Program at Hippocrates Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. There, I learned to “tweak” my nutrition through juicing and lifestyle changes. I had been doing some of this on my own over the years, but this was a full immersion experience.

A few years ago, a friend gave me Kris Carr’s book, Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips, and I loved it so much that I bought the DVD, My Crazy Sexy Life. Kris has attended Hippocrates and has just celebrated a seven-year “cancerversary.” Kris’s message resonated with me, and that kind of connection is important when choosing someone to emulate. Learning about Kris Carr’s journey has changed my life in a positive way, and now I have the chance to do the same for others by sharing my story and insight.

I consider myself extremely fortunate: after five years into this adventure in life and learning, I am in stable condition. Today, I am happy, living a healthy lifestyle and focused on working with people at the Jobri Center to help them discover their own inner survivor and get their “mojo” back . . . like I did!
