What is nitrogen coffee? In short, we can define nitro coffee as a cold coffee to which we add nitrogen as an additional element. What happens here is that the nitrogen gives the drink a sweet taste and a creamy body, with a very fine layer of foam, much like that of a beer.
Also if you can see closely, you will see small bubbles cascading, and it is neither more nor less than nitrogen in action.
Let's say that the only drawback when preparing a nitro coffee will be the preparation of our base coffee using the cold infusion technique, which can take about 20 hours to 24 hours.
Although there are several methods of preparing cold coffee, in order not to get so complicated we are going to explain the method that we consider to be the simplest and easiest to understand.
What we are going to do is use a 24 -hour infusion method, now if you don't want to wait that long, what we recommend is to infuse for at least 15 hours. All right, what we are going to do is the following:
We need to grind the coffee beans with a coarse grind as if we were going to prepare coffee in our french press. We recommend using a manual grinder.
Now we are going to use 100 grams of coffee for 7 cups of cold and filtered water), that is, a ratio of 1: 7. Of course, all this varies according to the amounts that you are going to use.
We will also need a container to store our infusion. For this you can use the special coffee maker to infuse cold coffee, you can also use a plunger coffee maker, or as a last resort, you can use a jar with a lid that you can keep in the refrigerator.
We will mix slowly so that the coffee can release its properties and then we will store it in the refrigerator for at least 15 hours. We recommend 24 hours to obtain a more intense and balanced flavor.
In case you use the bottle option, you will need a paper filter or another method to be able to filter and eliminate any impurities.
Ready we have our delicious coffee infusion. Now we go to the part that interests us, prepare our nitro coffee.
Now what we are going to do is empty our coffee infusion into the nitrogen machine.
We place the nitrogen charge in the container and press. This releases the nitrogen inside the container.
What we must do now is mix the parts for about 5 minutes. For this we can mix it using our hands, beating from top to bottom, or place it on our legs and roll it.
The reason for mixing it for so long is because we want the nitro and coffee to mix enough to create the characteristic microbubbles that often appear on top of our drink. And it's that microfoam that gives our nitro coffee that creamy and sweet texture.
We also recommend letting it rest for another 5 minutes. But if you can't wait any longer and your mouth is watering, you can serve it in a glass or glass of the size you prefer.
The result should be a visually creamy drink and with the characteristic cascade of bubbles produced by nitrogen, which you cannot deny, it is beautiful to appreciate.Article author
