Color Your Kitchen with Feng Shui

While the bathroom may be the most used room in a home, the kitchen is the next most often used room. The Kitchen is the heart of the home and is where we build and develop chi energy and loose chi. As we all need to eat, the kitchen becomes the place where energy builds up. This energy can do one of three things: help, stifle, or drain the area. In accordance with Feng Shui principles, you will want to find ways to attract positive and helpful energy to the kitchen. Here are two important areas of the kitchen that will help you enhance the heart of your home.

Why the Kitchen is Important

Everything we eat has an impact on our bodies. The better the quality of food we take in the better our health and well being. Since the food we prepare comes from the kitchen (or at least from the refrigerator or freezer), it makes sense that this room should have positive energy in it. That way, the energy goes into everything that we eat, making us happy and healthy.

The cook should always be protected in the kitchen because when he/she is cooking all of their energy is going into the food. If you find yourself in a bad mood it is not time to be preparing food for the family. Get your attitude right before you enter the kitchen because your energy will go into the food that your family eats.

Use these tips to help protect the cook:

1. Hang a faceted ball from the ceiling where the cook stands when preparing food.
2. Place a mirror in front of the cook so that he/she can see what’s going on behind her.

The kitchen, according to Feng Shui, is also the hearth of the home, where family members gather to share their lives with each other. When there is positive energy in the kitchen, that energy spreads to all of the family as well.

Colors for Luck and Prosperity

Color is the quickest and fastest was to add energy to a room. There are a number of colors which will work well for the kitchen according to Feng Shui. You might want to choose bright reds and yellows as these attract positive and bold energy to the room. The warm colors add heat and energy to the kitchen. In doing so, those who enter the room will be filled with happiness and gratitude.

You might also want to look into colors that represent fire as you want to stoke the family hearth, so to speak, energetically. Greens are also good colors to use as they indicate growth and strength. Greens can be added with the use of art or plants as accessory colors.

No matter how often you cook, your kitchen should use Feng Shui colors to help stabilize its energy. When you focus on the heart of the family, you will help everyone feel right at home.
