When I first started the Livingwithanalcoholic eGroup on Yahoo groups 7 years ago I hadn’t expected that it would become the number one group in it’s category. I also hadn’t expected that it would grow renowned worldwide either. With a membership consisting of over 730 people it had become the number one support group for people living in relationships with alcoholics in its catagory. With over 8760 message postings it provided a forum for people around the world to share their personal stories and gain strength and support from others going through similar situations and wishing to heal.

The emphasis had always been on personal recovery however some people didn't understand this and just used the forum as a platform to share their pain and frustration and complain about their partners and their own lives. Not working to change per se, but rather just venting to get all their misery off of their chests.

I eventually came to the realization that the group needed a new direction in order to accomplish its goals. The emphasis needed to be placed on the means of support necessary for healing and for support while providing the resources to move on and become happy and successful in life. As a result of this realizatio
I decided to refocus the group giving it a new name, new look and a new focus that is consistent with it’s true purpose of healing and moving on.

Thus the LWAA For Survivors Of Addictions · Recovery Help For Addiction Survivors was born.

It is a group for people wanting to move on with their lives and better themselves despite being trapped or having recently broken free of alcoholic or other substance abuse relationships. It is the group dedicated to recovery, personal progress and economic success. Both the survivors of addictive relationships and those recovering are welcome here!

We focus on ways of putting broken lives back on track both personally and financially as well as on succeeding and accomplishing these goals. People who are just looking for a place to vent or complain and read the endless stories of others that do will not necessarily be satisfied here. This is a group about making progress despite the adversity of having been affected by substance abuse. This group is for survivors who want to succeed and not for people trying to find ways to fix the unfixable.

I would like to welcome all persons who are either dealing with the issue of addiction recovery or who have been affected by relationships with addicts to come join us for support. The LWAA For Survivors Of Addictions eGroup is groups dedicated to change and for the purpose of helping people make progress and positive changes in their lives.
