Do you feel like you're stuck in the rut and not moving forwards? Have you lost motivation and lack self esteem? If you want to start pursuing your dreams and don't plan on settling for a mundane life, you'll want to start setting and achieving goals. By setting a goal, you're challenging yourself and whenever you tackle challenges head first and overcome them, you boost your confidence and self esteem. What types of challenges should I pursue? It doesn't really matter what type of challenge you decide to undertake. The most important thing is that you commit to the challenge and don't adopt the attitude of "I'll get started on it soon." Layout a road-map for completing your challenge and think about what steps need to be completed and in what order. Not matter what needs to be competed commit to getting them done as soon as possible. If something is important then don't delay. Procrastination is one of the biggest killers of peoples dreams and ambitions, take action always. Goal Setting Setting realistic but achievable goals is a great way to start completing small challenges and build your confidence and self esteem. Let's say for example that you wanted to improve upon your writing skills. You could start by committing to writing for at least 15 mins a day. It's realistic and easily achievable and will get you into a routine where you can keep improving upon your writing. It's also known that we are usually most productive when we know we are competing with time, for some reason a sense of urgency is thrown into the equation! Therefore focus on your challenge when you know you have to get it done in X amount of time. Measure Your Progress Regularly To measure any noticeable results when building self esteem and confidence through completing small challenges it's important to track your progress regularly. Make notes of what you have accomplished throughout the day (perhaps keep a journal). Monitoring your progress is great for inspiration to keep you moving forwards on the right path. Accountability Perhaps you find it difficult to set small goals and stick to them. If this is the case then bring in an accountability partner to work with you and hold you accountable. Also if you have a goal such as getting fitter that you know someone else is also wanting to achieve then you can team up and encourage each-other. This works out great for both parties and you'll naturally have an accountability partner at the same time.
