Pay it Forward

Intro:
If we were meant to go it alone, wouldn't we be here all by ourselves? Life is an intermingled journey with the billions of other people we share this world with. So, doesn't it make sense that we should help each other out? It is time to create a more positive world...it is time to pay it forward.
I was in the grocery store the other day and was struck by how harried and stressed out people looked. There were frowns all around me and that sparkle in their eyes was nowhere to be found. The thing is, I am not a big fan of grocery shopping. It is not something that I enjoy, so I try to get through it as quickly as I can. I am quite sure that I look impatient and unhappy most of the time there too. But having seen it so clearly in front of me, I felt like I needed to do something, anything that may help. But what could I do? I finished up my shopping, loaded everything into my trunk and headed home. Then it hit me…pay it forward.
Paying it forward does not have to involve any elaborate schemes or a lot of money. Send a card to a family member or friend you have not seen in a while. Shovel the driveway for a neighbour. Smile and say hello to a stranger. Think about the last time a card arrived in the mail, someone shoveled your driveway for you, or a stranger smiled and said a friendly hello to you. Didn’t it feel good? Did you feel a little uplifted? If you were having a bad day, did it make you feel happier? Of course! Then, didn’t you feel like doing something nice for someone else?
We are all on this planet together, so we need to help each other. So, go ahead. Make someone else’s day a little brighter – for no reason at all. You will feel better for having done it, someone else will feel happier and hopefully they will pass it along. You cannot see this, but I am sending you a big smile and hoping that you have a fabulous day. Now, pay it forward.
