Whether Women Religious or Women Laity, we are baptized and confirmed just as our male counterparts are. But their lies the ever-present division line to Women’s Priesthood, with our equality ending abruptly there. The predetermining factor of progression lies with your particular gender type.

Because, we are women, we are told by men, that we are not made in the image of God, so Priesthood is simply not an option for us. It is this Man-Made Patriarchal view of one’s gender as the determining factor for Women’s Equality Rights in our Church today.

Jesus’ own Views on Image and Equality.

But whatever happened to Jesus’ own views on both image and equality?

“Humankind was created as God’s reflection: in the divine image God created them, female and male, God made them.” __ Genesis 1: 27

“In Christ, there is no Jew or Greek, slave or citizen, male or female. All are one in Christ Jesus.” ____ Galatians 3:28

Pope Francis, any discussion on Women’s Ordination, deserves the use of Jesus’ own scriptural words on the topics of image and gender, rather than solely following the

Centuries-old words of the hierarchy on this matter. Is it really right to give more credence to Man-Made words, over those of Jesus Christ?
When Women Won their Right to Vote, 1920, they Achieved their Goals?

In Jamie Manson, Blog, “Time to face facts: Pope Francis…. She mentions a book that our present Pope wrote when he was a Cardinal back in 2010. The book was entitled, On Heaven and Earth, then “cardinal Jorge Bergoglio explained that the feminist movement achieved its goals when women won the right to vote.”

Pope Francis’ above statement is startling indeed. He is basically saying that for women there are no other areas of inequality that need to be addressed since this was settled back in the 1920s. What is so soberly transparent is absolutely no recognition of the ever glaring, ongoing current inequality for either Women Religious or Women Laity in our Church. The Catholic Church inserts the word feminism into most discussions on Women Priests or Women’s Ordination. There is an overwhelming insinuation of a negative connotation behind women in the Catholic Church wanting more than their current half equality status.

Another common word used by the hierarchy, for women wanting to be priests is the word power, again another word to insinuate not the best motive for wanting to be a priest. There seems to be a common theme, to literally put down while totally changing women’s real motive for the Priesthood, to simply answer God’s call to serve Him.
