In order to properly and wisely choose the right type of LTC plan for you, you must first know the different types of LTC policies available in the country. One of these is the so-called Indemnity long term care insurance policy that might just be the most suitable type for all your LTC needs.
Aside from this type of LTC plan, there are also Reimbursement and Partnership types of LTC plans that are currently available to the public. These LTC policy types may be different from one aspect to another but an individual can be fully assured that all of these have the capacity to give him the LTC services and facilities that he might need in the coming years without hassle.
It is important for a person who is interested in buying his own LTC plan to choose the right type that would suit his LTC needs and more specifically, his financial allocation. It is common knowledge that LTC plans do not come cheap so buying the most appropriate policy would require deep understanding of each type.
One of the differences that the types of LTC insurance plans have is the terms of payment or how the insurance providers pay for the insured individual’s needed LTC services and facilities. Depending on the type of LTC plan that the person has acquired, he might be given exact refund per use of plan benefits or the full amount of his LTC policy.
The Indemnity long term care insurance policy type is more expensive compared to the Reimbursement plans. How come? Because those who acquired Indemnity plans are given the full amount of their LTC insurance policy even if they were not able to fully maximize their allotted benefit amount.
This type also does not necessarily requires the insured person to present billings or any other documents to prove that he has received medical treatment from licensed and authorized medical professionals like doctors, nurses, and caregivers. The policy owner must only have two ADL loss and a cognitive impairment to be able to receive their policy refund.
This means that the insured individual can freely use or spend any remaining amount of money from his LTC policy the way he wants to. But the downside is that he must properly manage and allocate the whole amount of his plan based on the costs of LTC services and facilities that he would use.
In any type of LTC policies available, insurance companies are especially strict not to give any payment or reimbursement to the insured person once he has maximized or fully used his allowed benefit amount. So proper planning and allocation of funds is beneficial and necessary for those who own an Indemnity LTC policy. If they are not careful and cautious enough of how they spend or use their policy benefits, they might just end up paying for the excess amount that they may possibly incur from their own pockets.
These are just some of the most common advantages and disadvantages of owning an Indemnity long term care insurance policy. To know more about this, and to acquire more knowledge regarding the other LTC policy types, you may contact your insurance provider now and ask for pertinent information that could help you decide on what type of plan to purchase.
