I’d been having problems with my cell phone for several weeks – it just wasn’t working quite right. I called the service line, and the representative suggested I push the phone’s reset button to restore the settings to their original programming. Realizing I had nothing to lose except some reprogramming time, I did…
It was like having a brand new phone! All the issues were swept away, the erroneous programming wiped clean. My phone and I had a fresh start.

My cell phone was back to normal, but I couldn’t stop thinking in the back of my mind about that reset button. Many devices have a reset button – a way to get them functioning again when they get “stuck.” And then I had an epiphany: Sometimes, we have to hit our internal reset button in order to reconnect with our vision, our soul, our purpose…our original programming given by God.

Stop for a moment and evaluate where you are with respect to your professional and personal goals. Some of you are progressing toward your intended outcomes, your momentum increasing with each passing week. I congratulate you! Some of you may find yourselves in a holding pattern, unable to move forward. And still others may be releasing brilliance in some areas, but are stuck in others.

Today, I invite any of you who aren’t where you want to be, to hit reset!

All too often, we allow people, circumstances and events to foul up our God-given programming and distort our perspective and our vision. Hitting your internal reset button gives you a fresh start and erases erroneous beliefs about what you have or haven’t done in the past. Hitting reset realigns your heart, mind and spirit with your plan and with the goals you’ve set for yourself. Hitting reset gets you “unstuck” and enables you to function smoothly once again, allowing you to reemerge as the person God intends you to be.

One of my goals for this year is to build and expand my business. I wasn’t going to be satisfied with more of the same. However, to achieve the visio
I have for my business, I had to hit the reset button on my soul and realign from the inside out. I had to become an Original Voice instead of an annoying echo.

What buttons do you need to reset in order to get back on track to where you want to go, who you want to become and what you want to do? Do you need to realign any of the eight core areas of your life: spiritual, financial, family, career, emotional, mental, wellness, social? Here are three ways to reset, realign and reemerge as a brilliant diamond in any area of your life:

Reset your vision.
The greatest tragedy in life is not blindness; instead, the greatest tragedy is having sight but no vision. Your inner vision is more powerful than anything else. Wisdom expert Mike Murdock says it best, “The picture that stays in your mind will happen in time.”

What are you daydreaming about right now? Your vision represents your expectations for the future. Do you expect joy, abundance and prosperity or disappointment, lack and failure?
Hit reset and re-envision the future YOU.

Reset your focus.
When we set new goals or create a new vision for our life, our focus is clear. But over time, our focus – and our energy – can become scattered and diffused. How are you spending your time and your energy? Is your focus diffused like a lamp or sharp like a laser? Do you get distracted thinking about all the things you could do or concentrate on the ones that will further your vision?

Reset your focus, lock on to your sweet spot and direct all your energy toward that. Reset your energy by rejuvenating yourself. Have you taken or planned a vacation this year? Disconnect from the world and realign with your soul.
Reset your focus and use your energy to create the future.

Reset your internal programming about your self-worth.
Earlier this year, I presented at the Society for Human Resource Management national conference. One of the themes I heard over and over again – and even talked about myself – was the importance of recognizing employees. And yet, I believe that although organizations and their leaders can recognize employees until they’re blue in the face, the most inspiring recognition comes from within. What the world really needs is employees and leaders who believe in their individual brilliance to the very core and can pat themselves on the back. Exte
al recognition should be a happy bonus, not the foundation of one’s self-worth.
I believe many people are addicted to exte
al recognition. I know I was. As a speaker, facilitator and one who aspires to inspire 10 percent of the 6.5 billion people on the planet before I expire, I had a need to connect with people and a need to be needed. If no one reached out to me, I’d begin to wonder if something was wrong. Fortunately, I came to a place where I released the need to be needed. Now I look within for my recognition. I realize that I don’t have to talk to someone every day (or hear myself talk, for that matter) to feel as if I have value. If I’m not acknowledged by others on a daily basis, I’m not going to lose sleep over it because I know what I do is of worth.

Hit reset on your self-worth, realign with your gifts and let your brilliance reemerge.

If you haven’t achieved what you set out to do this year, claim the next few months as your time to shine. You can do it. I believe in you.

Simon Believes…Everyone deserves a fresh start. Hit reset!

I was watching my six and nine year old daughters playing the other morning when suddenly there was a barrage of I Hate You and I Don't Like You Anymore statements flying about the room. Of course, it was just a moment of disagreement in child play, but the thoughts and feelings were real enough to them at that moment.
