(In contract, osteoarthritis is characterized by breakdown of the joint cartilage without any swelling or inflammation.) Therapeutic Essential Oils constitute some of the most effective treatments for combating arthritis pain and combating infection in cases where it is present. Peppermint has been studied for its ability to kill pain by blocking substance P and calcium channels.
In cases where arthritis is caused by infectious organisms, such as Borrelia burgdorferi, (Lyme Disease) Chlamydia, and Salmonella, therapeutic essential oils may counteract and prevent infection, especially when diffused or applied topically. Highly antimicrobial therapeutic essential oils include: mountain savory, rosemary, Melaleuca alte
ifolia (tea tree), and oregano. The oils can pass into the bloodstream when applied topically. Additionally, MSM has been documented to be one of the most effective natural supplements for reducing pain associated with rheumatism and arthritis. The subject of a number of clinical studies, MSM was used extensively by Ronald Lawrence, M.D., in his clinical practice to successfully treat rheumatism and arthritis. MSM is the key ingredient in the supplement Sulfurzyme.
Also, glucosamine and chondroitin are some o the most powerful natural compounds for reducing inflammation, halting the progression of arthritis and rebuilding cartilage. These are the key ingredients in the supplement BLM.
