Books Atkinson, 1894-1984, American jou
alist, said, “This nation was built by people who took risks - - pioneers who were not afraid of the wilde
ess, business men who were not afraid of failure, scientists who were not afraid of the truth, thinkers who were not afraid of progress, and dreamers who were not afraid of action.”
What happened to us? Did an illusion of security lead us to a wilde
ess of half-truths, lies, and stupid decisions? Did we allow unworthy politicians to take control? What became of truth, honesty, and the American dream?
The American dream will die if our government buyouts and giveaways continue. Free enterprise, which made our nation great, is based on the law of service and reward; a universal truth that states our rewards will always be in direct proportion to the services we provide. This applies to firms, organizations, governments and individuals. Our world is governed by universal truths, whether we understand them or not.
If we care about our future and the American dream we have no choice, we have to get involved and stop the political suicide. This isn’t about Democrats, Republicans, or Independents. It is about principles, honesty, and character.
Our leaders, by the very nature of what they originally agreed to when they were sworn in, are the stewards of our money. In that position of stewardship they are expected to use our money wisely. Is that what they did the day they voted for a multi-billion dollar bill that they had never even read?
Strong healthy nations demand effective leadership, people capable of standing firm on proven principles. People earn the respect of others by saying what they mean, meaning what they say, and doing what needs to be done. People earn trust by being trustworthy.
What we need are more statesmen and stateswomen, individuals willing to do the right thing, even when that right thing does not agree with what the lobbyists and other politicians desire. And, what we definitely don’t need are more people who think they are playing it safe by going along with the crowd.
Robert Collier, 1885-1950, American author and publisher, said, “Playing it safe is probably the most unsafe thing in the world. You cannot stand still. You must go forward.”
We can go forward by making a stand, stirring the pot, planting a yard sign, and investing in trustworthy candidates. Talk to your friends, neighbors, and strangers. This grassroots movement must go forward if we hope to remain free.
Again, this isn’t about Democrats, Republicans, or Independents. This is about character - - the one and only thing that can save America and the American dream.
