Secret # 5: School is Never Out for the Great Ones

If you want to be world class and achieve mental toughness , then you must subscribe to life-long learning. Champions are always learning something new. They know they do not and will not ever know everything there is to know. No one will ever know it all. Someone said “None of us is as smart as all of us.” We only can know so much at any given point; however, there is no limit to building layers of knowledge brick by brick. The limitations you set are up to you. As I personally continue to learn something new every day, I often say (and perhaps will continue to say for the rest of my life) I wish I knew what I know now way back then.
The world class commits to personal development and growth through reading books, listening to empowerment cds, and attending workshops or seminars on a constant basis. Sadly, the middle class consciousness and below, prefer watching television and flipping through entertainment magazines. Learning ended after they graduated from high school and/or college. These are the folks who need self-improvement outlets the most, but will not take advantage of them. They believe formal education is the only way to succeed and that personal development and self-help in for the naïve.

One of the world’s top motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, most popular yet very true quotes is “Formal education will make you a living; Self-Education will make you a fortune.” What this means is our school system doesn’t teach financial management and how to really succeed in life and get rich. This premise is also supported by other financial management leaders like Robert Kyrisaki and Suzy Orman. You have to take your education into your own hands and seek answers to help you grow in knowledge. Knowledge is power. It’s also fun to “think out of the box” and implement new strategies or innovate new ideas. Then execute them. Take action to move forward. But have a plan. Action without purpose is misused energy. Information is everywhere so there is no reason to get left behind. You can do extensive research on the Internet or simply absorb a bit of wisdom from a mentors or friends.

World Class consciousness sees self-education as a mandatory yet never-ending cycle of life. This is why they excel and get rich. Rich doesn’t always refer to monetary wealth. Rich can also pertain to being rich in knowledge and spirituality.

Here are three main beliefs of world class performers:

  • Personal development is for everyone
  • When you stop learning you stop growing
  • Learning and growing is the key to success

Now here are three beliefs of the middle class:

  • Personal development and self-help is for uneducated people
  • Formal education is the only way to succeed
  • The more degrees you have the more money you’ll make.

Your Action Step for this lesson is as follows:

Ask yourself these critical thinking questions:

1. If I invested more time educating myself on a daily basis would I be more successful?
2. Why does 95% of the population ignore the power of personal development when it is key to change and being better tha
I am now?
