(Or How to Stay Motivated in Your Network
Marketing Business)
Copyright © 2003 Priya Shahn
Is it possible to motivate yourself to do something youndon't enjoy doing? n
Let me illustrate with my own example. n
I'm not a natural networker. I'm no good at schmoozing nand talking people into doing things I want them to do. n
I've been told that I'm too upfront and honest for my nown good. I know its true.
So how did I land up in network marketing? n
Well, I always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom ANDncontinue working. n
Now network marketing OFFLINE is not exactly my cup of tea.
My "warm market" would probably be cold to my advances.
Attend meetings? But I thought the idea was to AVOID thenawful commute!
If I called a friend over, it would be to chat about collegendays - NOT try to "introduce" them to "my new business."
I'm simply not comfortable with many of the methods that nare used to "recruit" people.
But I'm still managing to do a decent job of building my norganisation.
I also manage to keep myself motivated enough to WANTnto spend every waking moment on my business.
How do I do it? I found something about the business I nloved - the internet!
Now the internet is a whole new ball game as far as nnetworking is involved. n
On the internet you don't get rich by approaching people nwho aren't interested in what you have to offer. Uninvited nadvances are better known by the word "spam."
You don't lurk in chat rooms - the real-world equivalentnof street corners - and accost them (no matter what your nupline tells you).
You find out where they hang out and then make your npresence felt in those places - like search engines, nezines, discussion lists.
If you can write reports, offer useful information, nestablish yourself as someone willing to share their nexpertise - your prospects will FIND YOU. n
And if you can find something about the business you loven- something about it that gives you a RUSH - you will nnever be short on motivation.
Its my love for researching and writing reports that gives nme the motivation and the edge I need.
With you it could be any number of things - helping people, ninteracting with others, making friends, writing articles, ndesigning a website - all the things the internet is good nfor.
And you'll soon find out that if it feels good for you, nit'll most likely be good for your business.

***Rising Like a Phoenix
Sometimes, life smiles on you. It’s the kind of thing that nourishes hope. And then, life turns. And, well – you deal with it. Upon my return from Germany and settling the affairs of my late father, I retained a lawyer—with more money I did not have—to fight the eviction notice I’d received while I was abroad. I found a bankruptcy attorney and prepared myself to let it all go. Even though I had just negotiated a huge deal with Getty Images, the largest such distributor in the world, I realized that I might not make it to see my business turn a profit.

***Do What You Love AND Make Money
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could do what we love and money would flow automatically? It actually can do this and it will, but not entirely by itself. An extra step is needed. Money comes around when it is actively pursued and it doesn’t when you neglect to do so. Let’s take a closer look at how making money fits into the day to day planning by the example of the average entrepreneurial business owner. Most of you have figured it out, but there is still a difference between getting something done and generating income. Let’s look at why that is.
