“Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you’re riding through the ruts, don’t you complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don’t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake Up and Live!” ~ Bob Marley
“Blame no one. Forgive yourself and others. There is no room for lifelong grudges or guilt complexes in such a short span as a lifetime.” ~ Joel Osteen
Often times we carry negative feelings towards others.
Most of us look at the journey of life as a long road. Yet none of us knows how long our journey is intended to be. Many of us will even carry negative feelings against others that we hold for many, many years. But if we were to take another perspective on life, we would realize the precious commodity that life is! It would be so much better served focusing on the things that bring us joy rather than displeasure.
Imagine that we were to live another 30 years holding a grudge, that would be 30 years with a heavy heart, 30 years of tears and ill feelings, 30 years of thinking negative thoughts about another… all by choice!
Imagine then if we were to release the negative feelings and to occupy that mind-space with positive, happy feelings… how much more pleasant can you imagine those 30 years could be! Worst yet, often times the reasons that we carry those negative feelings we hardly ever remember with time, yet we still so clearly continue to hold and dearly embrace the negativity.
What would life be like today if I hadn’t held on to the memory of a remark that some kid in my class in elementary school made, that I had ugly toes… how many beautiful pairs of sandals would I not have passed up in my lifetime? It’s sometimes the simple things that we deny ourselves based on past experiences. An opinion is simply that, an opinion… opinions do not define us unless we allow them to.
So let us resolve today to start shedding some of the negativity that binds us. After all, an uncomplicated vision of our future is a much more beautiful picture to embrace.
