I am here to tell you that shift happens to all of us. It happens in our home based franchise, it happens when as we become a top sales producer, it happens in life and it all depends on how you handle that shift.
I was recently reintroduced to this phrase and for me; it couldn’t ring truer to my ears. Lately it seems as if I have been given a lot of shift. Friends who have be diagnosed with cancer, other friends getting divorces, yet other friends who are now taking their turn in the downsizing of corporate America. What’s next?
Granted I am an outsider looking in, with some of these cases, but you know what? Every time I hear some sort of tragedy happen to people that I personally know and love, my stomach gets all bunched up, I feel a bit winded and realize that shift could be happening to me.
As an outsider looking in I am learning a ton of life lessons. I am looking at how these people are handling the shift that has been given to them and wonder if I would be able to make the lemonade that they are making.
What I am learning is that these people are true winners. They aren’t letting their current circumstances bring them down. They have the courage to say OK, shift happens and life continues to happen so let’s get on with it. They are looking for and planning for better solutions than what they recently had.
How are you handling your shift as of late? Are you allowing the shift that is around to overtake you to inaction in becoming a top producer in your home based franchise? Are just lying down and telling yourself that there is nothing that you can do to help yourself, your business and your current situation? Bull shift!
This is your wake up call. Get up off the couch, out of bed or wherever you are and start to make an action plan to get your life and your home based franchise to where you want it to be. Not just a life of squeaking and getting by, but the life you were really meant to live.
After you know where you want to go and have written down your goals, find a mentor, a coach, a running buddy. Whatever you call it, find someone who can help you get to where you want to go. Talk with you mentor no less than one time a week and make sure that he/she is holding you accountable for the action plans that you have written out for yourself and for your home based franchise to get you to your next great level of life.
I don’t care it is finding another J.O.B; I don’t care whether you are going to start your own home based franchise, or whether you are going to do philanthropic work from now on in. All I care about is that you stop making excuses for the shift that is happening in your life.
Yes, shift happens and will continue to happen. Confront it, create an action plan that will not allow this shift to conquer you, your home based franchise, or you becoming a top producer in your company. You must conquer the shift. Start today and I promise you that once you start to take persistent action in your life, the shift that happens will be the sweetest smelling shift you have ever smelled.

The Greatest Story Ever Sold
Back in the late 1980’s, the Honda Motor Company ran a memorable series of commercials, the basic premise of which was that the company’s cars were so amazing, they sold themselves. This commercial’s “hook” was that it featured a salesman who was bored out of his mind and had nothing to do because the cars were so in demand they were practically walking off the lot. The brand’s slogan at the time was “Honda, the car that sells itself.” Ha!

Decision-Maker or Decision-Faker?
Excerpt from the book "Chase the Championship - Kicking Ass, Taking Names and Becoming a Dealmaker!" Stay far away from the boss’s underlings when you are in search of a decision. The heads of Marketing, IT, Human Resources, or whoever else is part of the “decision-making chain” for the product or service that you are selling should never be the people that you go after for a commitment.
