Social anxiety sufferers usually spend most of their time inside and away from other people. This avoidance behavior doesn’t do them any favor? Why? Because if you stay at home all alone, you are left alone with your own thoughts. These thoughts are usually negative. When you spend too much time thinking about how bad everything is, and how unhappy you are, you slowly become depressed. Beside that you also program yourself to think negatively all the time. Every time you are actually faced with an anxiety provoking situation, you become anxious because you instantly engage in negative thinking. That’s why you need to cut off this kind of behavior and start going out. Social anxiety support groups give you a great opportunity to go out and meet new people.
