Simple Ways to Make Exercise a Habit

- Habits are developed when you follow the same thing over and over again. When you perform the same behaviour repeatedly it becomes a habit. To put it in simple words, if you are not doing anything consistently, it would not become a habit. This is why routines and rituals are so important to develop a habit.
- Most people fail to implement exercise in their regular schedule because of the big targets. The best way to make exercising a habit is to start with small targets. Start with relatively easier exercises that you can do it comfortably. Make sure that the task of exercising is so easy in the initial phase that you cannot give up. By focusing on smaller and simpler things you will not worry about the entire workout. Having an easier and simpler approach in the initial phase will also help you in finding motivation. Slowly and gradually when you get comfortable with your easier workout regime, you can raise the level and start practising relatively tougher exercises.
- Most of you fail in making exercising your regular habit because you focus more on the results rather than the habit first. Without even developing exercising as a habit, you start looking for results. Most people start exercising with a target of losing say 5 kgs weight in 2 months and so on. They would start their exercise and diet to focus on the outcome. This is not the right approach. The focus must be on the process and not on the outcome.
