SME Trends: Social Media and Blogs

In a survey by TouchLocal.com, they discovered that more than half of Small Medium business Enterprises (SMEs) have adopted Facebook as their main social media marketing strategy. Among other complementary strategies were Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, YouTube, and blogs. There’s no denying that the Internet is now becoming a hub where quality information is shared. And for SMEs, marketing strategies remain personal yet on a different platform.

SMEs that need publicity are perfect in the social media setting where information is given casually and word of mouth travels quick. Social media serves as the perfect platform that allows you to engage your very audience in conversation. Twitter, dubbed the online “cocktail conversation” speaks for itself. It’s an avenue for exchange and also the perfect venue for customer care. In addition, social media is marketing for free!

With 54% of Small Medium business Enterprises on Facebook, the remaining 46% are not far behind. In fact, the only reason why they aren’t on Facebook is because they’ve resorted to other modes of social media and yet have not entirely gone without it.

We rely heavily on what our audiences can pass on about us and social media and blogging has certainly played an important part in brand recognition.
